My #1 complaint so far is the lack of accessibility options - playing on my big screen with a Series X, the on-screen text especially is so tiny and the subtitles are virtually useless, when new mechanics come up or I need to remind myself how to use a medkit, I have to get up and get closer to the TV to focus on that real quick. That being said, I did get a kick out of one of the Easter Eggs that's fairly early in the game - walking through a lobby-type space, an announcement comes on that basically shouts two of the PC console cheat codes for the OG Doom game "IDDQD" and "IDKFA" lol

Oh wow, didn't expect it to be done that quickly. 1:25 Especially as I've gotten older and cognizant of gameplay loops, story and writing in general have become very important to me and can be a dealbreaker. Apologies for the impropriety, but I'm excited to get back to Ishin.

Yeah I've noticed that too. I very easily notice bad writing, much more compared to when I was younger at least. It irks me more too when I come across such things as well. I guess itsfrom having higher expectations and less patiance for stupid mistakes.

That’s interesting because I’m the opposite. I used to put a lot of emphasis on story and graphics but the more games I play I find that my favorites often have excellent gameplay above all else. Red dead 2 is a good example for myself. One of the best stories in a game but the gameplay can be painful at times. It’s a weird balance for devs these days. Everyone wants something different.

@@WilliamDuh Its same for me too. When i was younger i used to eat up things like RDR, The Last of Us, Witcher 3 (Which imo has the most super duper boring combat of all time) Nowadays i just care about gameplay first above anything else. Nomatter how good the story is, if the gameplay and combat are total dud, i just skip.

I've always valued story in games and this game has some fun story beats, but for me pacing has always been the key factor of a good story. After that, is the game fun is the next factor. I think that's why Yakuza has been such a long stay for me. This game just needed some more polish and I'm hoping what they learned from this can be translated (and maybe even retconned) into a better 2nd game.

@@extinctbaryonyx I still like TLOU. I wonder what you don't like about it now (if it's the uncharted level of gameplay, I can understand that). I feel gameplay is fun, but it there's no "reason" to play it, it's hard to get invested in the game. At that point, I might as well be playing a mobile game.

I finished the game and saw a cohes view, But i do agree with some of coehs points, i feel the semi open world is very "optional" i my self could not figure out how turn the robot stations off, and it deterimed me from exploring as robots were getting rebuilding constantly and the fact there one option near end game you can not load back up to with out doing 40 mins of content again before it. I dont see my self replaying this game like I have done with Bioshock. For a first time game by the company its good, i do hope in future they do improve and learn from atomic hearts.

One thing I had noticed was that, enemies didn't really give me the vibe that they really wanted to kill you. Like compares to Bioshock, those enemies would sprint at you full speed while screaming and screeching all around you, shooting and keep attacking to put pressure on you. You really felt like you're fighting for your life. While in this game robots are just doing casual jogging and giving some attacks here and there. It made all the fights felt gimmickry and didn't have the same weight as Bioshocks.

After I beat the game and saw the final cutscene, I legit questioned out loud; "Wait, did I get the bad ending?" because of how short and... unsatisfactory it was. I just finished it myself and after like 2/3 of the game, it just felt tedious. Room after room full of enemies before you can progress in the actual interesting story. The end is a let-down and felt like Dying Light where they just rushed it. For the first game, it's promising and I'm hopeful for there next game. But in the end, i can't shake off the feeling of disappointment and I'm glad i played in on game pass and not bought it full price. Everything written above is my own opinion and should not be seen as a fact ^^

Similar story but in reverse. When I play games from Western developers, with original voice acting, the meaning is the same, when I switch to Russian, the meaning is already a little lost. The loss itself lies in the details, which are difficult to convey. This applies to absolutely everything books, films, games, etc. Now you are in our place, when you want to turn on the original and the necessary subtitles according to the original, and that's how we live.

I could forgive the open world. I could get used to the dialogue. I could look past the bugs and weird design choices, but having such an underwhelming dual ending that feels rushed and doesn't give any satisfying answers is just not a great way to put a ribbon on your game. Maybe I underestimate how much harder it is now to make a new studio and a a new game (older games weren't the best looking), but, this and Callisto Protocol feel full of life, but have some very obvious unpolished portions it's hard to justify them over other games. Then you have Forspoken that looks so polished but is so devoid of life that it feels like a tech demo. Were older games these unfinished feeling or are my rose-colored glasses just too opaque to see old issues. I remember bugs, crashes, clunkier mechanics and graphics, but I don't remember games feeling just unfinished.

I've had a lot of time on my hands lately and have been playing a lot of games, back to back. Not having time to distance myself and possibly be more inclined to enjoy any game I play, just for being able to, I've noticed so many games are promising but continually lack a few things that would have made them much better. For example, No Man's Sky and Cyberpunk have relatively impressive settings, but the content is so lacking or generic that it loses my interest quickly. I want to stay in the worlds they've created, but there's almost nothing interesting to do but grind for better equipment and items or do copy and paste missions.

The english version of the game is lacking in conducting a significant character trait that's made clear in the russian voice acting: the main character is an annoyed and tired exemplar of the so-called "siloviki" (lookup the term on wikipedia) social strata, who's blunt and doesn't respect anyone (except his boss) until they give him a good reason to respect them. He isn't a good hearted kind of character from get-going by default. Intonations of the actor in the english version are just missing the point, perhaps because one has to understand what "siloviki" were back to soviet times and are as a social class in real life. They aren't simply like equivalents of CIA/FBI of the soviet state, there's a specific mindset to be held to count as one.
@Mikhalych88
@Mikhalych88 Жыл бұрын
1) there's no such thing as "siloviki" in terms of social class or mindset. Siloviki means "enforcers" and it's just broad term for overzealous law-and-orderly type of people from police, special service agents, and so on. Sometimes it can be applied to certain politicans, but that's all. Civilians would never be called as "siloviks". 2) The main character doesn't seem like "silovik". He doesn't even acts like one, he's more like annoying teenager who complains, swears and argues all the time. He's just badly written one-dimensional character.

I really had a good time overall. On the hardest mode, bosses could have used probably 10-15% less HP. Guns seemed pretty weak - rather, melee just always seemed the best choice. Dialogue was sometimes silly or weird but it didn't bother me (his catch phrase did). The most unfortunate part for me was that I didn't feel any pull to do side stuff - either it was too difficult to find, or access, or both. Coupled with the infinitely respawning repair bots, it took the joy out of running in to and wanting to clear an area and explore it fully. Just a couple of hours into the open world area, I felt a sense of defeat in wanting to look around because I constantly had to keep clearing stuff I just killed. That, for me, was the game's biggest problem, and turned an otherwise 30-40 hour run into a 15 hour one. Still a fun time, though.

Honestly I thought the game was just ideas taken from other games but not as good as the other games it got the ideas from. It is a hard 6. Exactly what Cohh said. The writing also was just...bad. Plus the outside real- world events are hard to not pay attention too, especially when they stated that weird random comment about China in the beginning of the game lol!! Just finished it. The combat is pretty fun. The world looks beautiful. That’s all the positives I can think of. It’s buggy. You get trapped in the geometry of the world a lot. I think the story and dialogue are awful. The combat/movement animations are a little janky. The platforming sections suck. The door luck puzzles are repetitive. The themes are confusing. It definitively has an anti-western/anti-capitalist sentiments. It definitely takes inspiration from the Bioshock games with it’s weapons and powers and Ayn Rand’s philosophy of objectivism. I give it a 6/10. I mostly stayed for the combat and beautiful scenery. Mid way through the game I ended up skipping all the dialogue and lore scattered throughout the world.

I think people who dislike the game just dislike the genre. There’s a difference between not liking FPS puzzle games and the game being bad. And I say that because the majority of the criticism is just "it’s repetitive" which is standard in this genre instead of actual flaws with the game. Maybe the trailers were misleading and some were expecting an open world exploration or a bioshock type game but that’s never what it was.

Except all the so-called “political issues”, I think this game is awesome You see, Soviet violent aesthetic + strong sex intimation, I mean, who else can resist this combo in a video game Just cool! Hack and slash, and enjoy the twins. These things is better than those “BS propaganda”. PS:Great thanks to Mick Gordon. He makes me feel like I’m playing DOOM when playing this game. He earns those credits just like Hans Zimmer did to Crysis OSTs.

This argument is flawed because by that logic it's impossible to experience anything foreign as intended. Any game that requires a translation looses that "spirit" as you call it. Just because Yakuza for example is in Japanese with subtitles doesn't mean I can't enjoy it or absorb the themes and messages it's trying to convey if I don't understand Japanese and read the subtitles.

This game is a child of passion, devs were trying to make something new and wonderful, it totally doesn't feel like something from a conveyor which often can be seen. Just because a game has passion in it doesnt mean its good? I applaud the devs for putting their heart in it, but some parts of the game are just not up to par and with so many games coming out that just doesnt do enough for me. If you enjoyed it, no one can take that from you and im happy you did, but saying that it should be applauded simply for having passion doesnt make any sense

As much as I hate say this, I have played this game through years before it was launched. Everybody gets that it's mashup of late post apo boxoffice hits. But *spoiler* the plot is almost spot on same with the 2010 Activison/Raven Soft game Singularity. Soviet tech in a 1950s base goes haywire and a officer with a glove comes to investigate with his tricks and chases down the antagonist of the game. Edit: I waited this game for months, then turned out that it's shit.

“Made for men” (don’t forget to add his snarky tone when reading that). Huh, okay let me get this straight, so for once something in entertainment is actually geared towards the demographic supporting it and buying it (And *sigh* yes, males predominantly play video games over females, despite the lies IGN/KZbin peddle). For nearly a decade now we’ve suffered as the entertainment industry favored a very specific, minority audience for their products while ignoring their previously targeted, majority fanbase. They basically started doing the exact opposite of what companies did for decades to become successful and it hasn’t worked out so well for them either. What they’re finding out is, that “specific audience” they tried targeting doesn’t actually buy, support, or even like the products they whine and cry about on social media. So thank God there’s a game studio with enough common sense to make a game for the demographic that will likely buy that game… not some cross dressing, self proclaimed unicorn that has never played an FPS in it’s life. So, just for the sole reason that the PC babies will hate it, buy this game.

If by "made for men" you mean edge lord, overly horny, teenagers than I guess so? What in the actual hell are you even talking about? Who is "suffering" from the entertainment industry? And how are they suffering exactly? What exactly encompasses the "entertainment industry"? Is that like the Illuminati? What is not working out for them? Because most corporations are touting record profits and have been for years. There have also never in history been more games to choose from, and with such variety. Is that why you are suffering? Because there are actually more options for other people now? More options for everyone, does not equal less options for you. There are just more of everything for everyone. You have some strong bigotry and projections going on there. You might want to seek some help sorting that out.
