I don’t get it, a lot of the reviews say “it’s great but it’s influences do a better job.” I mean many things remind me of bio/system shock but this feels like it’s completely own thing. If a big name studio dropped this, they wouldn’t be docking points for things that literally their favorite games do too, but it’s a new studio so they find any way to tear it apart.

@@sicdedworm09 I saw one comment that said that Activision should sue these devs for using MW 2019 sounds in their game. This is the type of stuff that makes me hate the gaming community a shit ton.

SkillUp ripped Atomic Heart a new one, but I'm glad I listened to all the positive Steam reviews over the negative reviewers...5 hours in and I'm really enjoying it. Also pleasantly surprised by the great optimization on PC...its rare in this day and age. Running an i7 9700K + RTX 3080 Ti I can play at 4K max settings w/ DLSS Quality and easily maintain over 60fps.

Skill up never was a fan of AA eurojank titles, or mostly gameplay focused title story-wise enough just as a form of direction for players to digest and invest with great worldbuilding. His take on its "visual motifs" was off, unaware of the the game being an atompunk with Russian brutalism.

The Escapist, ACG, mortismal gaming, Ranton (from his live stream), Boulderpunch, noisy Pixel, gmanlives, stephen Luke, ..gave it a justified review for a eurojank.

@@R3TR0J4N It has some similarities to Bioshock. But there are those elements of RPG you'd see from Fallout, with the dialogue and environmental storytelling, some of the horror vibes and upgrades from Resi VII, or even The Witcher 3, and some Prey/Doom/Evil within vibes with the gameplay loop on top of that Metroidvania style backtracking and secrets from powers you acquire etc. A very unique game indeed!

@@Punggles hehe thanks. I'm loving the game so far!!! Though, at moments, I gotta put Frasier on to help assuage the tension/dread lmao. I have a feeling the zeitgeist around this won't mention the horror aspects, but I definitely see the dread and throughlines of horror and love it.

Sir, he says "crispy critters," and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the soviets being against cursing. Though he does say every profane word under the sun. I think this, because he is told to watch his language in public at the beginning by his ai glove.

Seeing it compared to previous fps titles like worldbuilding introduction of half-life or Bioshock infinite (the game was inspired), and far Cry, metro, and Dying light. it's an amalgamation of the fps genre, unexpected for a eurojank to surpass its cliche bearable distinctions.

This game reminds me a lot of Prey in some ways. It has that atmospheric immersion with a touch of horror and a bit of suspense. I feel they should've refrained from trying to copy Marvel when it comes to writing a protagonist as I feel the jokes make the setting feel less serious but that's a small gripe I have so far.

Lol I have no idea that changing the language from your native one ( albeit a bad depiction of it) for the original Russian that you don't understand at all makes the game better! I even heard that it was superior ( that it is probably ) but how did you know that? As far as we know the Russian original is maybe even worst! Point being we don't know at least with English we don't have to be Lazer focus fixated on subtitles
