No crashes so far but I have had a freeze that forced me to close the program via task manager. Still, considering the fact I'm about 9 hours in and that's the biggest performance complaint I can give, that's quite incredible!

They have been great at optimizing games and having less bugs since they improved there Q+A department. Obsidian use to have buggy games but not in the last 7 games! Dungeon Siege 3, Pillars of Eternity 1, Pillars Of Eternity 2, South Park, Armored Warfare, Tyranny and now The Outer Worlds all had little to no bugs for me. New Vegas, Alpha Protocol, Neverwinter Nights 2,etc.. where very buggy but of late they have been great. Just beat Outer Worlds yesterday and never had any crashes or big bugs in 45 hours (PC version).

@@KatalistProductionsKozzySasha DS3 was bad, PoE 1 and 2 had numerous minor bugs and some game breaking bugs, South Park had and still has numerous game breaking bugs, never played Armored Warfare, and Tyranny was really bad. You might have been lucky, but this is the only game of theirs I've played at launch that hasn't completely ruined my experience with major bugs or just been bad outright. I recognize that most people liked Tyranny, but IMO it was far too short, cliche and easy.

No missing content- ye, coz there wasnt any, u got 7 special weapons right before end of the game and main capital had like what? 3Q altogether out of which 2 had beeen showcased before launch iirc. The story and characters are bland and stupid, open world is a scam in this game just like star system map and ship and I could go on and on, but luckily I manage to forgot most of this garbage. And RPG element of this game is just pure garbage. Its like loot and shoot without any interesting things to shoot at or with nor any abilities or loot. They teased me for FNV in space, but all I got was singleplayer gameplay of Destiny. Ugh, looks like it still moves my bowels after all. Biggest let down ever. Sry Cohh and all u lot, but no. I love how varied it is and that for most problems there are two or more ways of resolving them, depending on character build (brute force, sneaky or social are the main ones). I am 18 hours in and feel like I have barely scratched the surface.

Adrift at C Their genre is more of true open world. This game is not an open world. It is more of a semi open world game. And RPGs in the traditional sense like Obsidian's are better off not being full open world. It just works too much against the pacing of the tight branching narrative that more traditional RPGs tend to have. Regardless it is a great game. I wouldn't compare it to other open world games but I consider a better overall package from a design perspective than other games like The Witcher 3 or Fallout New Vegas. This engine they used could do Bethesda wonders I imagine compared to their old one. I give it an 8.9/10. Basically a truly great game that tends to have quite a few flaws here and there but they do nothing to ruin the complete experience.

I am absolutely in love with this game. It's incredible. Read some of the "mixed" reviews but tried it for myself as I normally think most reviewers are totally wrong. No, it's not perfect but it's a DAMN good game. You can lose yourself in the lore and exploring tiny nooks and crannies of every area. Loot is fun to gather, characters are fun to build, there are different ways to do literally EVERYTHING in the game. It's awesome. And like others are saying, the cherry on top is this game for me had ZERO bugs. Like literally, it ran flawlessly for me. It was smooth as butter. More games like this please. I will pay for this quality every time and twice on Sunday. I loved it.

@@MasterDoctorN7 Everyone has a different idea on how they evaluate games but this game is definitely above average for it's genre. Being a First Person RPG. I find that from a design perspective it actually beats much bigger games overall like The Witcher 3 or Fallout New Vegas. You should have used Parvati and SAM (The Cleaning Robot) Their conversations together are nicer I found to anyone else's. Also remember this is a very low budget game compared to the ones you are most likely comparing it to.

Great review, love your honesty. I have not completed it yet, but, also no bugs experienced yet. What really amazes me is that I have not got Stuck anywhere in the world, even when jumping in pretty odd areas where one would expect to get stuck. Just well done. And no instance where my party is blocking my movement. And the dialog is sooo good. I am tempted to save before each trip from my ship and take a different pair of companions just to hear the different dialog that will occur. Game is amazing so far.

It was such an amazing game, with a great story and a fantastic setting. It felt complete and yet also had room for more, in the best way possible. The characters were interesting and the events fleshed out perfectly. Choices also mattered and that was brilliant. All in all it was a very awesome game, very well made and designed.

To me, the companions alone felt like they had more personality, the didnt idle around and follow you, they joined conversations, interacted with the world and actually had charm that was usually only found in 1-2 characters in Fallout 3/NV.

I Loved this game and only encountered one bug. The bug was the negative effects of Adreno-time never went away. This was easily remedied by a load of the most recent auto-save and no other bugs occurred for me . I am now on my second play-through on a harder difficulty and can see myself playing this many more times and still find things I hadn't in previous play-throughs. I am now watching your play-through as I play my second one and am enjoying every minute of it. This one of very few games in which I can complete it and if feels like it was meant to end where it did and any part of the ending I didn't like was my fault for not fully exploring my options. Love the work you do Cohh and whole heartily agree with you.

I don't really like franchising series. None of the Deus Ex games were as good as the first and Human Revolution was... ehhh at best. Making an original title means it has to stand on its own legs and can't sell purely because it's giving some extra exposition to the plot or characters of the first title. Sometimes sequels actually are better, but I find it's pretty rare. They compensate on graphics and polish mechanics but those aren't cores of the RPG genre in the first place.

I think one of the things that got me about this game was the good v bad decisions. The first world made it seem like the decision was just that but the "bad" choice could be turned into something better than the "good" choice. Once I learned that I stopped stressing about what impact my decisions would have and just went with my own moral compass. It lead to some pretty interesting things.

This is the game that as SOON as I was about to get into it.. Microsoft bought Obsidian and as a Playstation player I became deflated at the knowledge that any future entries to this game would be Xbox only.. So I only played maybe an hour before I set it down for good.. Now that Microsoft is opening up their exclusives to multiplatform I'm considering going back to this game, but honestly I'll probably just watch Cohh's playthrough as Outer Worlds 2 nears.. Pentiment was INCREDIBLE and while I already loved Obsidian that game definitely reminded me WHY I love Obsidian. So hopefully OW2 is multiplatform sometime at or after release.

The thing I find most disappointing about the game right now, is how most of the named weapons are worse than normal versions of the same weapon with mods. And you can't mod the named weapons. That area needs some rework so the named weapons are actually good. Other than that I really enjoy the game.

There is that one game breaking bug when you are walking into a certain room at the end of the game, but other than that I also didnt experience any glitches/bugs (or at least didnt notice them). Great game with great Characters (Parvati FTW), choices that actually meam something and A LOT of funny moments! Some small things can be improved, like having a way to holster your weapon so that you dont need to shove it into the face of every guy you speak to, but those will hopefully be adressed soon.

After having finished the game myself now (~33 hours), having completed every companion quest line and side quest and achieving the "best" good ending on Supernova, I think the game was a 7/10. I had plenty of fun exploring, but the biggest minus points for me are a) the ridiculous jumps in skill check requirements (from 50 to 100 for lockpicking in most cases while just following along the main quest path) and b) the lack of story depth from your companions quests. They often felt like they ended abruptly (like your companion just goes OH I'M HAPPY NOW THANKS BUD) and hardly have any impact on the overarching story, which is made even worse after the ending when ****SPOILERS**** they all seemingly ditch your crew immediately after you did your last bit and go on with their lives, makes it feel like you meant nothing at all to them.

havoc19x Got to look at it from Obsidian's low budget perspective. This is no AAA game and couldn't be. I think it gets closer to a 9 myself. Not quite but almost. It definitely has plenty of smaller problems that keep this game from being truly stellar but it is still a great solid experience overall. I couldn't play it a second time though. Tried but everything grew stale the second time around. But that tends to happen with any game no matter how big or small for me.

It brings immersion in a frustrating way for most gamers. Gamers don't like to lose inherently, and unless you're extremely patient, you will lose a lot on Supernova. So I can understand why most would just crank it up to Hard, because, let's be honest. The only difficult part of Supernova is trying to keep your party alive, and having to backtrack when something catches you off-guard, due to the sleep/save mechanic. The combat is certainly not that difficult, I probably died more in my first playthrough of Borderlands 3 than I have in all of Outer Worlds.

The only time my game repeatedly crashed was during the last mission to rescue the scientist. Went through the level with the hologram disguise, reached the broadcast room and it would always crash. Had to lose the disguise to continue. Only issue, that was not really a problem 😁

You did have atleast one bug where you turned on the gas for these lizard things and they all suddenly got up and attacked, you restarted your game and that didn't happen again afterward. Think this was on your 2nd day or so. That said the game is very bug light. I really like the attribute and skill system, it kind of gives you room to try a few things before you start specializing. The game is great and i'm having a blast going through the world. I think i kind of wish there was more to the worlds it seems a tiny bit light??? NOt sure yet as i haven't finished, but from what i've heard i won't hit the 60hr mark which is general how long i end up playing fallout and elder scroll games on my first play troughs

it might not be 60hrs, but i did hit 50hrs doing every sidequest and exploreing every location and I feel completely satisfied. This game is a much more concise and curated experience than Skyrim for example. Every quest fells like it has some impact on the greater story or at least the characters it involves.

I'm just worried that the drought of decent RPGs makes people who love RPGs jump on this game like it's the Second Coming, and lose some objectivity. Other reviewers say it's clunky, garish, with very average combat and poor character models that look like inflatables. I'm not a great lover of Fallout or Borderlands so I'm on the fence about buying it as I don't know if it'll grab me, or is actually a "must play".

It's a really average game. Nothing special. Story is okay but after several hours of "corporations are evil" it gets a bit mind numbing. The combat is bare bones and honestly just boring. The RPG mechanics are so shallow that they may as well not even exist. It was worth the $1 I spent to play it with game pass but I wouldn't recommend spending more than 20 on it.

Completed it this evening actually around 2 hours ago now, and i am ready for another run with some changes to my character making it more of a brawler, i went with tech and engineering focus this time next one intimidation and melee.

and I can confirm that everything cohh sayed, because it came from the heart. he is in the top 10 for pffff as long as i was a follower :D this is like in good ol times when games had expansions who has nothing else in it as ingame stuff and fully fledged and pollished new Worlds/gameparts too explore or missions in other game types :D

I'm about halfway through my 2nd playthrough right now (just picking different sides and being a bit more violent in certain scenarios lol) and not a single fucking crash or game altering bug in the slightest. This alone is a goddamn miracle by todays shit standard of ship it broken and fix it later bullshit almost every devs does now. 8.5 possibly 9/10. The writing is amazing, and the voice acting supports it just as well. I cared about the characters even ones I didn't side with. EVERYONE has a relatable motive. Outer Worlds is a true gem and honestly my GOTY.

The only problem I have with this game, is that it ends. And I absolutely fell in love with the characters. Story is phenomenal. Nothing but praise.

Yeh I'm only a few hours in and had to turn the difficulty up to hard but it's still too easy after upgrading my weapons, seems like there should be a level requirement on tinkering or something like that

i finished the game and everything was amazing until the fire nation attacked and at the ending slides somehow Parvati was listed as dead :( :( :( she was with me when i finished the last mission.. feelsbadman

Ai somnium files is more immersive for me, but this game wasn’t bad. It beats everything on the main triple A market for me. I hope this game is A lesson on what many developers should strive for. Not only will they make people happy, but they can show off creativity & not moral quotas

Well what i think it happen. I think they made it has a experiment has a world and lore, creating this new IP, but mostly mechanicaly, the shotting and the RPG aspects, the map and the engine/almost bug free product. I think the future, the next game in the style from obsidian will be the fallout we deserve. The fundation its there.

I really wish every game developer watched Cohh's thoughts videos and took notes on how to make their own games efficiently with quality. They could learn a lot and I guarantee it would make them so much more money when they let their game bake in the oven a while longer to make quality over the alternative which is to rush unfinished products that get tarnished with a terrible's launch that makes people not give it a second chance making it become forgotten. Just get it right the first time game developers and then they will tell their friends about it and you will make so much more money because suddenly everyone wants your game. Games like the outer worlds which is currently one of those games that everyone's talking about because it actually launched in a finished state! Kudos to Obsidian! I'm physically handicapped and unable to use a controller and play video games like most people. Because of my disability I typically stick to turn based RPG and strategy games. But this is one of those video games I love so much I'm going to purchase it out of love even if I can't really play it well

Am I the only one who thinks this game was just ok, maybe a 7/10? Seems like everyone else is praising it as if it was the second coming of Christ and I'm just "yeah it was a kinda fun". I suppose the dialogue was good, but other than that I don't feel it really had anything special to offer. The story was ok and the combat was just plain standard shooting with bullet time. Yes, I finished all side quests I could find and did four companion quests.

me too. after 20 hours I can't stop noticing how samey and average the gameplay feels. Writing, and the dialogue is pretty good but the gunplay, perks, loot and samey weapons, enemies and locations are average at best. I booted up New Vegas yesterday and to my surprise the gunplay felt better with the much cooler slow mo camera and gore. Guns dont have a punch in TOW. I cant see myself playing this ever again unlike NV

Rachenviel I don't know too many who are praising it that much. It definitely has quite a few problems but I still found it to be a great game overall. It is definitely no masterpiece but if someone was to give it a flat 8 or 9 I wouldn't argue.

This game is outstanding. Literally the largest gripe I have with the game is the apparent lack of a cowboy hat to wear. Not that there isn't anything negative about the game, I just have nothing negative to say about it. Except supernova mode; some of its mechanics have me scratching my head a little bit. I think that difficulty could have been implemented a little bit better. Your choices matter. That is the biggest thing I noticed about the game. My ending had a lot of things that would have turned out drastically different if I had chosen x or y instead of z

@RobotStuff There were side quests that were unmemorable/uninteresting, particularly after you leave the 1st zone. After a bit you do get to a lot of fun quests and charactesr though. It's good they didn't try to bite more than they can chew and kept it smaller. It can certainly benefit a lot from more weapons and other types of content. More skill checks, certain skills are hardly ever used in dialogues or quests(like medical for example, even at 1 quest where it seemed perfect time to finally put my medical skills to use there was no option, that can use slight improvement. You do also get attribute choices so there is that, more of those can be nice too, not just in dialogues but say if you have high strength using that to force something open etc.). Lots of great things about it though. It's something they can build on and add more content. I'd even do a 2nd playthrough right now but spent too long playing it the last few days as it is haha Going to lay off for a while.

I didn't think I was going to enjoy this game so I purposely got access to it with an xbox game pass sub for 83 pence/$1! After constantly playing it for almost 12hrs a day since launch it was money well spent. As well as some quality of life UI stuff for easy sorting etc I really hope that obsidian flesh this universe out in further DLC and titles, I'm itching for more story and more interesting and fun characters set in this universe.

I've been playing this game for more than 20 hours so far and I think it's okay. Not phenomenal but okay. I've played Oblivion, Syrim, Fallout 3, 4 and New Vegas over the years, and finished them multiple times. There was nothing I found incredible in The Outer Worlds or anything that made me super excited.
