Co-Game Directors Tim Cain and Leonard Boyarsky love that people are speedrunning The Outer Worlds! So they took time out of their day to fully commentate over a full playthrough of their game. Luckily for them, speedrunner Creeperhntr can beat the game in less time than it takes to watch a TV show.

@@ArnoldGLZ Probably hundreds of hours, there is a KZbinr who gave Streamers money for trying out Speedrunning strategies and there is also a video of one guy learning how to speedrun a Mario game, that guy was at it a few weeks of nearly full-time training strats and movement in that Mario game to at the end be near World Record pace. That game was pretty much solved though, developing strats for a game is pretty much the same as bug- and playtesting a game and finding all the hidden stuff.

Yes, but you still have barely seen anything in any game you speedrun in 10-15 mins. It's almost the same as just playing a game demo and not the full game. If i speedran a game in 10 mins the first time, i wouldn't say i completed it.

Not every puzzle has a singular solution nor must they (if there are multiple) all involve equal time investments. They're usually stored in a single integer, be it 8 bits (8 flags total), 32 bits (32 flags total), 64 bits (64 flags total), etc. and you basically flip a single bit inside that integer through bitwise operations. So you give each flag a bit position with a binary "OR" and just do a bit "AND" compare for that flag, i.e. "if(COMBAT_FLAG & player_flags)". The best part of doing bit operations is that you can compare multiple flags with a single switch, i.e. "if(((COMBAT_FLAG | IMMORTAL_FLAG | WHATEVER_FLAG) & player_flags) == (COMBAT_FLAG | IMMORTAL_FLAG | WHATEVER_FLAG))" compares against 3 flags at once.

The key was to open the door AFTER jumping the fence, and that's why he went back to Reed. He HAD to have the key and jumped the fence like 2 minutes after that comment.
