come join us! 9 months per expansion so no stress. plenty of time to explore, craft, make alts, get trained, get lost at the bottom of dungeons and do really long CRs lol. server getting about 1700-2000 players prime time and lots of guilds for every style of player. lots of naturally forming groups too. loving it

My friend introduced me to this server a couple weeks ago. It's great, has a huge population and it's still in classic! I was too young to play classic but I remember Velious all the way to Planes of Power, which is exactly the progression this server is doing. It's perfect for me.

I remember buying EQ the day it released at Babbages in the mall. I didn't realize it was a monthly subscription game and I tried to return it and was told it couldn't be returned once opened so I decided to give it a try for the free month. I then played it all through my 20's and some of my 30's. I've been wishing for a new EQ style game and am excited to see what Pantheon can do but I'm afraid it's going to be like Anarchy Online (which I also played for many years)...a DX7 game in a DX9 world. The long development cycle has me thinking the engine is going to be outdated by the time it releases.

I haven't played EQ since maybe 2001 or so, but I can still hear the crunching noise when you get hit real hard with perfect clarity. Also the sound skeletons and fire beetles make when they die lol.

All of me wants to play this. I just can’t justify the time to have to find a group and settle in for the Xp grind. I may get 15 min here or there, maybe an hour tops every once in awhile and that just isn’t enough.

It's okay if you don't hit max level. Enjoy it on your own time for what it is. It's OK to hop on and only hit maybe level 30 after a few months. If you rush to the endgame and hyper focus on min maxing, you'll miss a lot along the way. And you'll burn out or potentially miss responsibilities offline. It's OK to take a break and come back to the game. A lot of folks in their level 30s and 40s have said to me that they have concerns about running out of content and that 9 months is too long for classic. To them, I say they may have devalued their own experience slightly by skipping to endgame. But I can't truly judge them, as they enjoyed that short burst of enjoyment even if they quit until 'the next content drop'. EQ is more of a D&D, pen and paper style game where you commit to your character. I'm hoping we recreated that feeling. And those that want to deviate from it can, but at the expense of their own enjoyment. Take your time. Do some quests you never did before. Try a new class. Explore a new area. EQ is still full of adventures, even for someone like myself who has done it over and over. But do it at your own pace.

i thought the same, but with 9 months between expansions i dont feel any pressure to keep up with the powerlevelers. found a fun chill guild and we're all just playing at our own pace. no risk really. great server

Just to clarify, I have yet to see an emulated server thats 100% accurate in regards to vanilla EQ or even EQ classic. However, I would have to say p99 is far closer to an accurate feel than Quarm. With that being said, Quarm still provides a somewhat challenging gameplay that vanilla EQ did, but not nearly as challenging as p99.

I think I'll check this out. PoP to me was good, so was Luclin. Back in the day I was in a guild who was killing Quarm. I miss those days. When GoD came out I became disheartened with how the mobs were even harder than PoP. I quit EQ then. A pop locked progression server sounds great. Thanks for the video.

You should check out Star Wars Galaxies, primarily the SWG Legends server. It's got about 2000 players per day. Feels just like SWG did before it shut down and a great community.

I tried this, really really wanted to enjoy it. But I can't deal with the mouse look issues. I'm sensitive to framerate and screen tearing, so the stuttering camera movement makes me want to throw up. Supposedly this is going to be fixed with a new client down the line. Part of me wants to deal with it and try to get a manastone and jboots, but I just can't do it. I think it's important that anyone who wants to try Quarm be aware of this. It's 2023 and I can handle old school gfx and UI, but not a game where I can't look around with my mouse smoothly.

@@BeheBrooga Don't remember p99 having any issues, but its been many years since I played on it. Apparently there's some fix for this now called Zeal. Haven't tried it yet to confirm but it looks legit. Debating if I want to lose my life to EQ again lol.

I know how you feel about classic wow and I miss those days. Going back now to EQ you find a different game where soloing is the main thing. Not so in classic wow. Quarm has me interested again.

online games should either be subscription with no cash shop or free with cash shop. If cosmetics are sold on a market with a subscription it feels as though to get the cool-looking stuff you must pay more so IMO there should be ways to earn these in-game as well. I still don't get the issue with earning Subscription time by playing More people playing and interacting with different aspects of the world adds a lot more engaging play. I'm fine with farming longer because lower drops * and increased drops should be managed in a way to not break economy such as personal loot from bosses/named/whatever else that is no trade versions of rare drops that are tradeable normally. allowing for faster progression through content. id be fine If every time I walked into town I had to watch a 30 sec. ad if its free to play but at least make it 100% possible (even if time consuming) to obtain everything without paying. like cosmetics to complete x dungeon x amount of times or something or pay to get it ( people will always have parties because people are cheap but others who are willing to pay will still pay and more will stick around because there is a player base. just my opinion I honestly don't know the correct way to implement things but I do know that you want the option to obtain everything 100% free on a game that's driven by player interaction. People may ask if you can get it free why pay? well because people are lazy by nature and/or don't have the time to spend on a game to get it so people will still buy the stuff. i also don't see an issue allowing people to buy level ups for characters (along as the content doesn't become stale in order to accommodate end game only, witch is another issue why do we only focus on end game now days instead of the journey to get there

Is this server going to exist eternally and have new servers every x years that upon completion merge into it? Or will it just be a pop server once completed and that is it? I would love to know that there will be continuous resetting servers and everyone is always aware from day one those new servers will come into the old. Either way I plan on playing on this server a bit to enjoy before PoP.

I played EQ from just after launch for around 5 yrs. I just recently found out about projects 1999 and quarm. I am wondering about your statement about being a progressive server for 9 months. Does that mean ther server will shut down then?

It's 9 months per expansion release. So Kunark will release in 8 months, and then Velious in 17 months, Luclin in 26 months, and PoP in 35 months.

If you can spare some pocketchange, then donate a few buck to Secrets as well, the server hosting does cost more than expected, she and the team never expected 1000+ concurrent players 24/7

Please don't donate to me for anything other than my time. I stream on Twitch for transparency but the server itself isnt accepting donations. Our host is changing soon to Akkadius, who runs most of EQEmulator. He will charge 200 a month for his hardware. We will pay out of pocket indefinitely one way or another. And if he wants to open up a link, or another contributor, I'm all for that.

@@deester2375 I figured it out. When you create a copy of the eqgame exe file that runs the game on your desktop, it doesn't work if it's not mapped back properly. Try clicking on the one directly in the game folder (not the copy version u made). That fixed it for me :)

I played there from what I saw from day 1 is that everything is subject to change on this server, it is not classic. There isn't a lot of forethought past the 9 months per xpack. However I would also say that will be subject to change since I know for sure that an almost week 1 raid boss kill will lead to xpack moving forward because people will threaten to leave. Also server owner or lead dev whatever you want to call her seems to need approval from the community so will basically swing with the loudest outcry. Maybe I'm wrong but this is what this server seemed like to me. Just a word of caution.

It's definitely not. I'd hope people know it's an emulator. In case it wasn't obvious, PQ is completely open source and made with 100% 'clean room' engineering of the EQ game client and re implementation of its server from scratch. Our recreated code, db, and scripts are visible for anyone to download, run or modify. Not a single portion of our code is made from EQ's official code - frankly we've never seen it and don't want to either. I am super excited for DBG's inevitable 25th TLP! I'd highly encourage folks try Oakwynd too. We love EQ here. That includes Live / TLP. Darkpaw has been excellent stewards for the game.

Been having issues with EQ for years, finally tried to fix it yesterday. Did a fresh install, reset everything. But I am still getting the same error since before the fresh install. It's saying eqgame.exe Entry Point Not Found. "The procedure entry point ALL_set_3D_speaker_type@8 could not be located in the dynamic link library. C:\Users\tomm\onedrive\desktop\eqgame.exe"
