Came here to clear something up, they said you can donate only one ability per frame. This means that each warframe has ONE ability you can sacrifice and put on other abilities. Unless i understood what they said wrong.

Basically. The way it works is...you sacrifice a base/non-prime/umbra Warframe to "teach" the Helminth a specific one of their abilities (that DE chooses). You can then swap that ability IN to another Warframe's kit in exchange. So in the broadcast, Rebecca had already sacrificed a Volt to teach Helminth Shock. She took Exalibur, removed Slash Dash and gave him Shock. :-)

Honestly, though, this is how most people should play. He deeply loves Warframe, but doesn't have time to no-life it as he's a variety creator. He's done most things in the game, played a ton off stream but LIKES playing other stuff. But like he said...Tennocon is worth checking out every year, even if DE didn't sponsor him.

People need to temper their expectations regarding the Chrysalis system. Each frame can only provide ONE ability chosen by DE. We won’t know what abilities will be available until then. So maybe don’t fantasize about specific builds until you know what you can have. Xaku dealing void damage, but being unable to damage Eidolons is such a copout.

While I agree that Xaku dealing special non-eidolon-shield-damaging void damage is a little bit of a copout, I understand why they did it. No matter how week they made it, somebody would figure out a build to take out the Steel Path's Hydrolyst shield and a Synovia in a single shot, completely trivializing the fight.

The reason they do things like that is to remove the restriction of choice. If they said "Xaku's void damage does 500% more damage to Eidolon Shields," do you think ANYONE using ANY frame but Chroma or Xaku will even be allowed to hunt Eidolons in pub groups? I'll answer that for you. Hell no. Can/should their void buff 1 have some use? Yes. Can/should it perhaps help during Eidolon fights? Sure, I guess. But people groaning over this are being a bit melodramatic. I mean, let's face it...there are already folks SOLOING multiple tricaps in a single 45 minute night cycle. We don't NEED an even more deadly Eidolon hunter. If anything, we need more giant monsters LIKE Eidolons that MORE different Warframes can be used to fight.

I think people missed something pretty big with the Helmith system. You don't get to choose which ability to absorb, every warframe has ONE predetermined ability that can be consumed from it. DE will have no doubt thought about potential gamebreaking combos. It is still mega-freaking cool and the customization is insane, but I highly doubt they will let stuff like Invis and Roar/Iron Skin be available for this. We can clearly see stuff that would be far far too OP.

They said that signature abilities will not transferable to other warframes. In most cases invisibility is pretty signature. I'd expect the "1" abilities to be transferable in most cases and nothing else. Shock kinda suggests that.

You can't feed Umbra or Primes to the Helminth. Base Excalibur, yes. Also, I don't think you can get a second Umbra, not that I think you'd need a second one.

@@Pcat0 Yes, true, they didn't SAY that. But with all due respect, there are a few notes you need to take into consideration... 1) There's only one Umbra. It's Excalibur. 2) There should only be one Umbra ever...because he's special. "Umbra" isn't a classification of Warframes like "Prime," it's the Warframe we met during The Sacrifice. That being said, 3) The entire reason Umbra was created by the devs at all was because "Excalibur Prime" is a Founder's Only thing that was offered to the original wave of PC players who paid to support the game in its infancy. It will never, and should never, come to consoles, unless they install cross-play or cross-save that allows for those specific players to use Excalibur Prime on other platforms. Thus, most players don't, and won't, have Excalibur Prime. The devs wanted to give those players a "better" sorta "primey" version of Excal, so they gave him a quest. That being the case, 4) I don't even think you can sell Umbra for credits in your inventory. I heard someone did in a comment section or Twitch chat, they apparently sold him before they finished Sacrifice, which I didn't even know was a thing, but I'm not sure is even true. And if you can't sell him for credits in your inventory, I'm not sure why the game would allow him to be subsumed. So yes, they didn't explicitly say we can't subsume Umbra. But there's plenty of aspects working against that being a possibility.

I on the other hand am concerned with this new ability transferring system. On many if not most older warframes (let's say: those released before 2016 and never reworked) "1" abilities are useless relics from the past that desperately require a rework. They were also used as an example for ability transfer on Tennocon stream. While Pull and Shock are alright-ish, there are bad abilities like Frost's "1" and completely useless like Mesa's or Nekro's "1"'s. That stops me from being excited. Will we get yet another fun idea of a system that will end up completely unrealized because of being full of abilities that are not used even today and nobody will want to add them on any other warframe. Or maybe we will get some much needed and long overdue quick reworks for those abilities that will make them actually worth picking?

The bad "1" abilities will be ignored always, and the great abilities which will be available will be used to replace them. Not the hardest idea to grasp. It's almost like you think every wf has a trash 1 ability or every ability offered will be trash, which is highly unlikely. Either way, this new system almost works as an excuse for DE to not fix the trash abilities by purposefully giving players a system to fix them themselves.

I kind of agree with you. It's a very DE thing to introduce a cool system but only let you swap in bad or forgettable abilities. The good thing is that frames like Octavia exist where all of their abilities are great so we get something good guarenteed.

@@astillia6073 Do you even know what that term means? Warframe is free to play and you can grind out most of the stuff in the game for free. You can even grind stuff to trade with players and earn premium currency, allowing you to buy "prime" items without spending a single cent. Also, these devs are known to carefully design grinds in order to keep paying for stuff optional instead of being seemingly mandatory like in freemium games. Sunk cost fallacy means you payed for something and now you feel obligated to use/consume it in order to get your money's worth. Or for games, you have started playing something and now feel obligated to keep playing more since you've already started. Warframe is risk free to try out and is highly praised so you're just spouting drivel. If you dont like warframe in the first 3 hours no one should be feeling forced to keep going

Here's a constructive thought: to co-inside with the new player experience, I noticed the Intro animation for the Cambion Drift showed archwing, I don't know it its a requirement here, but It would be sooooo much smoother for new players to have an arch wing requirement to fly into cetus/fortuna maybe with their own lil animations to tie it up eventually.

You really don't want to play warframe in first person even if the option was there, the movement system is way too dynamic to offer a good FPS experience, it's really designed to be a TPS.

All you have to do when assessing whether a game is pay-to-win is ask yourself one question - Are the micro-transactions in the game cosmetic only? If you find yourself saying “no”, then you should know whether the game is pay-to-win or not. I’ve witnessed Cohh call other games, even single player games, pay-to-win for xp bossters or the ability to buy in-game gear with real world money. I once asked him how he could view a game like Far Cry as pay-to-win with its micro-transactions, but does not consider Warframe to be. His answer was simply because Warframe is free-to-play. That does not mean it doesn’t have pay-to-win, but rather that he, like many others (even myself), gives the game a pass on its micro-transactions. Even today, someone asked in him if plat was farmable without interacting with other players. He stated no, but that it was fairly easy to acquire gear to trade for plat. Plat is the premium currency that keeps Warframe’s economy afloat; it’s used to buy nearly everything in the game. It’s value is comparable to other premium currencies in mobile games, like mimics of Clash of Clans.

To Quote Cohh from this video. It is Pay to Progress Faster, not Pay to Win. Pay to win = pay to get power non-paying players can not obtain. Pay to progress faster = Paying can get you the thing you want faster than the non-playing player, but you can still get everything as a non-paying player. Don't get me wrong, Pay to progress faster systems can be really bad and Warframe is not flawless (I for one hate the crafting timers, especially when I need to craft x pieces of a thing to then have to wait again to craft the actual item) But it is not Pay to Win.

But I want to point out a 2011 definition urban dictionary uses: "Games that let you buy better gear or allow you to make better items then everyone else at a faster rate and then makes the game largely unbalanced even for people who have skill in the game without paying." This definition, the most popular one and nine year old at this point, recognizes progressing at faster rate as a part of pay-to-win. That being said, it also recognizes it affecting the balance. In case of Warframe, that balance doesn't exist in game at all. Even if you will use those pay-to-win options, it won't affect and bother anyone. In most cases people will not even notice this. That's why it doesn't matter that Warframe theoretically contains pay-to-win mechanics.

Eli First of all, the entire reason trades work is because someone is always buying plat. It is what the what the Warframe economy is based on - the currency is used to buy nearly anything in the game. Second of all, can you buy primes - Yes or No? And do those primes themselves have value in the trade system? The answer is yes to both. Just because you don’t have to buy something, does not mean that pay-to-win does not exist. Remember what I said: All you to do is ask yourself one question. Are the micro-transactions cosmetic only? The answer being - No, they are not.

The Codex You buy frames vs farming them, you raise your mastery rank either way, which offers multiple benefits on its own. You can progress at slow pace, or you can progress significantly faster. Additionally, slots may gate players from acquiring too much loot too early on, unless they have plat.
