I think it's more that they decided to leave it for late to keep with the lore they had going. It's possible that FAR into the future of Warframe they'll change the new player experience. But probably not, it's kind of a big deal to their lore. It's still hilarious taken out of context.

I really like it this way tbh, it's a pretty big plot twist. For 100+ hours you're thought to BE the warframe, only for this bombshell. I'm glad they stuck it in later, it has more of an impact because of it.

I legit shed a tear or two at this. I played this game since launch, and I WAS my Warframes. In a lot of ways this game distracted me from all the shit life was throwing at me at the time. I enjoyed the combat and the feeling of power it gave me. When the second dream came out it turned my concept of the game on it's head. Maybe it's a little dumb, but it was really emotional to see the immortal Warframes ive gotten so attached to revealed to be vulnerable children. By the time this quest came out I'd gotten out of the awkward time of life, and it was amazing to see that the immortal warriors I'd used to keep from dealing with my own vulnerability were as vulnerable as I was the entire time. To me, and other veterans who this truly shocked, this quest was beautiful. That's my 2 cents anyway.

Regarding the position of the Second Dream quest: You need to understand the history of the game itself. This quest was released years after public release. People had thousands of hours before this quest was even available, and there were huge debates over what the Tenno really were. People thought they were suits of armor, which didn't explain the gendered warframes or how Nekros can be so thin. Others said the Tenno were energy beings or AI's that controlled Warframes like drones. This quest sort of answers that; it'd been hinted at throughout the bits and pieces you can find in the codex about the warframes. The tenno are children, warped by the void, which gave them special powers, who sit in pods that let them transfer the consciousness into warframes, which are drones that can handle their special powers. So, this was a huge deal, and the first real cinematic quest. Focus is now something for you to work on; the five schools translate to five different power types. Zenurik is popular because it can give you energy recovery at a really fast rate (like, 4 per tic). Naramon is underrated, IMO, but great if you like melee weapons. I suggest looking into Shadow Step. The whole branch is crit damage and chance improvements and stealth, which pairs really well with crit-build melee weapons using Berserker (which speeds up weapon attacks when you get critical hits, which allows you to get more critical hits, which keeps it going). Shadow Step will make you invisible on critical hits from a melee weapon for the rest of the mission, which is great for survival and defense missions, and it can't be removed by anything until it times out, unlike Loki's invisibility. I'm not very familiar with the other schools, but you can switch. The lens is put into frames or weapons, and you'll get focus for experience gained with that item, even if it's already maxed out. Focus was meant to be a way to keep high-level players who've done all the content still interested. Watch some stuff about 'focus farming' to figure out how to get significant amounts of it. The reason people tell you to press 5 is that if you hold it down, it activates your focus power. After you do the war within, it gives you another power with a quick tap, which I won't spoil because it's a part of that quest. If you haven't joined a clan, it's probably time to find one and do that. There is a lot of the content locked behind 'clan research' and other things that have to do with being in a clan, and periodic events that occur at a particular time (usually around holidays) and never happen again. Some of the weapons people have could only be obtained in these events, though they'll come around again in some way if they're not part of the founder's package. (None of the founder's pack stuff is monumentally good, BTW). Some of that will lock your potential maximum mastery rank lower than people who did those events and were founders. I'm MR 24 at the moment, which is the current maximum possible, though the MR ranks go up to 30 based on steam achievements, so this game has a long way to go. Really happy you're enjoying the game, and sorry to write you an essay.

Skill, if i may present to you my feelings of this scene, as a veteran of the game, as a veteran of the lore, and seeing this scene, seeing the lotus for the first time, seeing what I am, what i had been dreaming of for almost 2 years, and then the music, and the effort, i was at a loss for words, a loss for thought, i was in tears. They had taken the game i had thought was complete, and added a whole new level of the game. The tenno had become even more than just the armor. They had become a symbol of power and a new beginning.

This quest wasn't added to the game until Warframe had been out for three years. For THREE YEARS we didn't know what we were, who we were, how warframes worked, what the lotus saw in us or if she was even real. Every day was filled with question and conjecture, theory and thought. We clung to every NPC line, every hint of dialogue, every insult and every scrap of log as we tried to figure things out. And then this quest came out, brought with fanfare but without suggestion as to what waited for us. We played it. Those of us who got through it agreed that we absolutely couldn't spoil it for anyone else, and that the secrets behind it had to be kept. I've never seen a game do this, or had an MMO break new ground with such monumental drama. I fucking love this game.

Skill Up it's the tree you want if you want to make an infinite melee crit monster with an invisibility proc every time you land a crit melee strike

Skill Up they're sort of end game abilities. In a very general sum up Zenurik is focused mostly on Energy, Madurai on damage, Unairu on Armor, Naramon on stealth and melee and finally Vazarin on healing and protection. If you want details you can look at each tree by going to your tenno (yourself but it would be weird worded like that) and selecting each tree. Install the lens you got onto your favourite Warframe or weapon but it's better on Warframes. You can get more lens from the market, by doing the sortie or by trading

You have to check your weapons and tenno, after choosing the tree of talent for your child (you). U will level it up and there are SKILL TREES which improve and add many bonuses/skills for your child. To get the exp for leveling up those, add to a tenno or weapon of your choise with the rune/thing of the tree you picked. Have fun with this new experience and world after the second dream.

LOL, that and "I have no idea what's going on". Feel you. When I started, for the first 300 hours I had no idea what caused procs, what depleted my shield, why I would suddenly die with infested, what different warframes powers worked together, or how some of the missions worked. On top of that, I had no idea what was going on when I played Second dream the first time and finally got most of it on the second playthrough. But yes, this was the first real cinematic and the addition of new and emotional music. After 2000 hours of grinding, it made Warframe have more meaning.

For us well for me atleast "the second dream" showed how far Warframe have went since release, I mean for a f2p game one would not expect a story and a decent one at that, also the music did wonders, truth be told for a person who played since U8 the story quest made me shed a tear and I knew that the Warframe ride has just begun.

My biggest issue is I hope everyone doesn't gift you everything. Gifts are fine but when they start to gift entire frames I feel it takes away the experience of actually earning the frame. When I got my Rhino Prime (My first prime) with my last relic that had the last piece I needed I was cheering at 3 in the morning! When I found the last Ivara piece I needed after hours of grinding my clan were cheering with me. I just hope they don't gift you too much and ruin the experience of actually earning and grinding for frames. But now we need to gift you 100 alloy drums.

Yep i played this game more then 800 hours and i have less frames then skill up. Struggling with Frame/weapon slots is an essencial element of the game. The pain when you have to recyle weapons just for the sake of earning exp again :D

I couldn't be watching all the stream (cuz going out with friends) but man that was insane, great job man I'm so glad you got into the game. Something I forgot to mention on your Warframe Review was the problem you have about the Trading system. There are 2 ways to do it, one is going to the relay and offer things there (you already know that) and the other is just staying on your ship, go to trade chat and offer what you wanna sell there, eventually someone will buy your stuff and you can get platinum. Basically since platinum is the "base" coin of the game, it makes yout time and effort farming stuff rewarding because you can get everything for free that way. Another thing is Tennogen, which I recommend you to check. Tennogen is basically skins, syandanas, weapon skins, helmets, etc made by people who play the game. You pay around 6 bucks and you can get an amazing piece of cosmetics for "fashionframe", this is a fair exchange because you pay a little to support the creator and DE (they share the earnings) for something that looks sick as fuck. Anyways, keep it going! there is much more to discover in the game and the potential it has.

Fun fact: While another economy of a F2P game, specifically TF2, has an unstable economy with a problematic drop in value of metal, the base currency (the way prices work is Scrap metal, made from two weapons, Reclaimed metal, made from three scrap, and Refined metal, made from three Reclaimed, and Keys, which have an ever-changing ref/key ratio, last I checked around 30/1.), and this makes it hard for new traders to join the scene without a lot of money, or luck. The interesting thing about Warframe's economy is that due to the way how the currency is treated, the more that comes in, the more prices raise due to the drop in Plat value, the easier it is for newbies to get platinum! While they won't go to crazy price levels yet, or probably ever, it is actually pretty nice.

Hey Skill Up! Loved your video here. Have to say a couple things... 1) "150 hours and now I get to customize my character." I said pretty much the exact same thing! The game gets you so invested just by playing, and after you spend so much time in it, doing missions that don't seem like they have purpose...until you get to this. It's really amazing. 2) Naramon...I went with that as well, and pretty much the same way...I didn't look anything up, research it, nothing. I went with my gut and made a choice based on what stood out to ME, as opposed to "yeah, this is what people say to do." 3) I have no clue in the world why rewatching Second Dream playthroughs get me emotional. No clue. If I had an idea, I'd share, but I really don't. It's so powerful, the atmosphere, the presentation, the music, everything is so well done about it. :-D

Now you only have to do the war within man.... to be honest when i did the second deam i was really blown up, i couldnt stand the feelings, the music, etc. Im glad you are enjoying the game, im playing since 2013 and since that ive wished the game had more attention, now it looks like its having the attention it deserved for so long. To me, this quest was amazing. I overthink things, so it never sat well with me that each Warframe has an individual level, but we only 1 Tenno (as can be inferred by the mastery system). I was always curious, “what *are* the Tenno?” If warframe’s are Ironman suits, then what’s the Stark? What’s the US part? Why do we never see it? And I wondered who the lotus was, and all my questions were answered. But so many more were raised. When we “wake up” for the first time, I was mashing W because I thought it would move me back to my Warframe faster. If it didn’t I didn’t care, I was so enthralled by the moment that it didn’t matter. My first thought was that “I’m powered by this alien” Then when I saw it’s movements, I thought “it’s a scared child” But then I noticed how my warframe’s head was slumped over, and realized... *This is what we are.* I was so invested that my heart nearly exploded when the stalker barged into my ship. I kept trying to get past him, but couldn’t make any progress... It wasn’t out yet, but if it was I would have turned my recording into a “you say run goes with everything.” Because right as I was about to give up, I realized I could disperse his blade beams. I literally said “AHA! You can’t hold me back anymore!” Out loud when I figured that out (can I get a cringe?) And then the lotus walks in... And that was when I learned what this game really was. And I fell in love all over again. Not like with Destiny, where it was the only option, I have genuine appreciation for *this* game. Not just the genera, nor just the mechanics, or even just the dev team, but the whole package. It felt like all my random meaningless questions weren’t meaningless, and this world was thought out like I would do it. And to top it off, I just learned I’d only scratched the surface.

I know this is an old video, but yeah, you do have to put in quite a lot of time to get to this quest, but honestly I think it's necessary, and worth the time investment. if you stick around playing Warframe long enough to unlock the Second Dream then you've experienced first-hand the build-up necessary to make the twist work. What I mean is, you play this game for so long, and I can't speak for everyone, but all the time I spent leading up to this quest I had the burning question in the back of my mind, "Just what are the Tenno? What am I?" especially as you start to collect and use different frames. But you keep playing because the gameplay is amazing, and that question doesn't really take away from the experience, if anything the mystery of it all makes you want to seek answers more and more... and then this quest hits you like a truck with its reveal. It's really awesome and I personally believe the Second Dream is only as satisfying as it is because of how long it takes to actually play it.

ill never forget doing this. years of playing, years of chasing lore. forum discussions. sleepless nights pondering always at the front , a singular thought What am i? who am i? then you play this. you get more. and more. you play the quest and then you get there. and they devs throw the question right back at you. instead of being premade thing i couldn't change. at the end they asked me what am i. who am i? and then as the quest kept going. it just felt so amazing to have them let me answer who and what i was. it was so touching to put that in our hands. warframes been such journey and then they built on this . at the end of the war within. i no longer asked what am i. who i am. a new thought took the front. what will i become. i love the lore in this game. the slow burn of the pieces falling into place.

I cried during that quest, it and the war within are literally the best quests I have ever played in the game, I can't wait for more quests like this in the future. Also after that quest I felt a little more angry at the stalker for stabbing my frost in the chest XD

Your videos on it are what got me to give Warframe another chance. Played it on ps4 launch, dropped it. Tried it again when people told me it was good... didnt really get into it. Saw your videos and gave it the first real, proper chance and got hooked. I have been waiting for months to get to, and complete my own Second Dream, and I am so so glad I did. Now I can watch this video and really get it. Thank you for telling me to not spoil myself beforehand.

Even now, this still hits you in the feels. Years of waiting and speculation from simple androids, to tenno being able to change size to fit in the different frames, to them just being energy to this. Then seeing space mom in the flesh. Great stream! I hope you can appreciate what an impact this quest made on us, we've been trying to figure out what "we" were for so long - how we were able to change between warframes of different genders, there have been numorous theories about what is actually happening. Then there was "red tenno text" just before or after a mission which, when translated, gave us some ansers but again even more questions. This text was a prelude to the second dream.

I completed this quest yesterday for the first time and my reaction was very similar. This quest not only shifts the tone of the game, opens up the story and gets you even more involved and wanting to play, but it also rewards you for the time invested so far. DE knocked this out of the park. 100+ hours in and I’m creating my character who I’ve just found out to be a kid! Geniuses!

The best thing about this or the review video is, as someone who played the game from beta, seeing new people playing the game for the first time, understand it, accept it as a whole, and see it as a shining gem, is just amazing. Maybe now I can't afford to spend more time for this game anymore, but I will always comeback whenever there's any new updates, and spend some, just for the love to the game. @skillup just a tip. Kubrows come in different breeds and give different specs. U can't go in the infested room without a fully grown cyst or nidus. The cyst u get when matured, u can be used to hatch an Infested helminth charger pet by draining the cyst into a kubrow egg. Also if u liked this , ur going to love what surprise tww brings you. Have fun in warframe.

Though I said to play War Within, I would suggest you play Second Dream again because the second play will give you a much better understanding of the lore. he had done the war within too in the same stream TBH the lore is so heavy i think he will need a chat with somone or watch some lore video to understand it. we had YEARS to speculate on the lore, so we already knew who were the sentients and what happend during the old war.

Ah thank you Failandia. Appreciate the information. Then I am looking forward to the video for that part of the stream. Though Second Dream had more of an impact, I found War Within to be more emotional for me. There was something about the Operator learning about his/her true past that was very enjoyable and the dialogue between the Operator and Teshin was very moving. Yeah there is a lot to digest here and so I hope there will be time to get to understand the story because it is quite amazing. Maybe not Elders Scrolls level yet...but I do emphasize "yet".

Well yeah, Skill Up can't be. No one who wasn't involved way back in the day, who didn't dig for every scrap of lore to support their own speculation on what the Tenno actually were, didn't spend time and energy trying to figure it out, can have the same level of sheer anticipation and then awe that we had. But the fact Skill Up appreciates it as much as he does is good. DE worked like horses getting that to where it is, for all the issues it has in execution, it's a fine example of shocking reveal.

Skill Up's "Master Stroke" video puts it into context why it is a great twist, as only those who dedicate several dozen hours of their time into this game, with tons of questions, no answers, and even the possibility that the player might not even care about the answer at this point makes this revelation all the more shocking.
