Once I stopped being scared of sulfates in shampoo and started clarifying my hair weekly because I use heavy butter and oils, it changed my whole way of seeing my hair's hydration and moisture levels. I had to learn the difference between the two and use that to my advantage. I now use a hair steamer every wash day to really get my deep conditioner to do its job, and I put on my leave-in conditioner and sit under the dryer for about 15 mins, then cool before I proceed with the rest of my routine. It's worked wonders! I don't have to do anything to my hair again until it's time to wash again and it's still moisturized no matter how long I go between washing. I also use a filter on my shower head to soften my water and remove the excess minerals. I've finally gotten my hair to below my bra strap on my back because it's now hydrated and moisturized properly.

@@chanex5324 I use the Daily moisturizer by TGIN, and then my homemade moringa and aloe vera hair butter to seal it all in. I typically braid it up or twist it depending on how much energy I have left (I’m disabled and it takes a lot for me to reach/hold my arms above shoulder level for a long period of time) and then I sit under my hooded dryer until it’s about 80 to 90% dry. I tie it down with a scarf on my edges snd a bonnet over it and I’m done. I typically don’t leave my house more than once a week since 2020, so I don’t worry about styling much. I keep my bonnet on most of the time while I’m in the house to keep my hands out of my head and prevent any unnecessary breakage too.

@@chanex5324 I use TGIN daily moisturizer next and seal it in with my homemade morniga and aloe vera hair butter instead of just oil. It adds yet another layer of moisture and the oils in it seals everything in all in one step. You can skip the TGIN if you want, but you may not get the long lasting moisture without it. I twist or braid it in about 15-20 medium sized sections and that’s it. I wear it in that style until it’s time to wash it again unless it’s somewhere I’m going that requires a more polished style and then I unravel it and wear it out. I’ll braid it again after get home depending on how long until wash day. If it’s within 2 days I’ll just do about 4-6 , but if it’s longer than that I’ll do the original number and pattern from wash day. I’m disabled, so I don’t really leave the house much so it’s fine to keep it in a protective style like that and under my bonnets every day. That keeps my hands out of it and helps me retain length too.

You are so committed. You reply to every message. Big ups girl. I'll try the heat moisturising routine and finak rinse with still bottlef water. My hair really looks dry and damaged after washing with hard water, I'll definitely invest in bottled water. This natural hair journey is really a trial and error because what works for you might not work for me. I started following you in September, I can see the difference in my hair already. Thank you for your commitment, gives me hope.

Sis as ALWAYS thank you. I was already using the glycerine as you suggested and that was a game changer but I still felt defeated. I'd spray day and night and still wake up with dry hair. After this video, I sprayed it down, got under the dryer for 30 minutes and then applied the leave in and oil and twisted. Listen, I could feel the difference in my hair immediately !!! I mean IMMEDIATELY!! Thank you!!❤

I have noticed a slight change n my 4c hair since you turned me on to humectants.. the funny thing is I've always had them in my arsenal but never knew how to use them till I found ur YT.. they really do make a difference.. as for the hard water , mine is and it still works fine.. The added heat concept is a wonderful idea , I will try it going forward.. Peace and Blessings.. MJD

Thanks for pointing this out. I learn from you too. Initially I was just using distilled but decided spring wouldn’t be too bad without putting much thought to it. I'm glad that you gave us a suggestion for what to put in our spritz bottles, however, I'm not sure what you meant when you said "aloe". Aloe juice? What kind of aloe? Aloe vera plant? I really need you to be specific. Also, when you said "glycerin", I've heard of nitroglycerin which is a highly explosive liquid, but glycerin in and of itself is not a term that I am familiar with. Where can I purchase this? I'm really looking forward to your answer since I heard you say that you read and answer every comment. Thank you in advance.

Two questions. Don't you need to rinse with cool water after to make the cuticles lay down and help seal the hair shaft? Secondly does this method also work for straight natural styles?
@CoilyDiaries
@CoilyDiaries 11 ай бұрын
I want to keep my cuticle open for my glycerin spritz. when I get it in, am ready to close. second question: Does what method work for straight natural styles? do you mean like a blow out and silk press? and do you mean the moisturizing method? works for anyone but glycerin can cause your hair to frizz so straight naturals might struggle.
