Good looking Franklin's. It is hard to tell exact details on camera. But I see what you are talking about.

Other than those two little areas I pointed out, which are very minor, the coin is flawless. I wish I knew what CAC saw! I may end up having it sent in again for reconsideration and request feedback if it doesn’t pass again if my curiosity gets strong enough.

for the 1957 FBL its because of the surfaces of the coin. Im A CAC member (4682*). Its because over years it has developed 100%. Im also a franklin guy i have over 100 graded and all the proofs etc. The coin would need to be removed from the holder and restored/dipped/conserved etc. its a gorgeous coin nonetheless, would just take more work and money or more effort to make it perfect. Which it is possible to have the coin restored. Worth a shot if your using it for a rregistry set, or just getting a better version of the coin. Hope this help.

Because of the toning? I have many fully toned coins that are approved by CAC.

I didn't know that CAC gave feedback if your coins went unstickered.

Me either. Never heard such a thing.

I’ve heard before that they do but I never knew you had to specifically request it with the submission.

The 1957... Contact mark near F in HALF? Suspect toning. Chatter. Solid MS65 still.

Good eye! I’ll have to take a closer look when I get home later. I do agree on the toning, it is a little funny. I don’t know if artificial toning was a big thing back when this was graded. Who knows.

I have hundreds of Benny's in my constitutional silver pile. All of my silver is from 1955-1964 when I had multiple paper routes of those years and collected silver coins to pay for their newspaper. I have over 3,000 dollars in silver coins. Ben and John halfs George Quarters Merc and Rosey dimes. I am 77 and was 8-17 years old as a newspaper boy. Here is some irony April 65 was my last month as a paperboy. May 65 I graduated from trade high school. June 65 I joined the Army. By March 66 I was 18 flying helicopters in Vietnam at a MACV-SOG special forces base in Quang Tri province.

Thank you for your service! That’s awesome you were able to accumulate that much silver at face value. It’s worth quite a bit nowadays.

I can see all the things your saying about the 57, but overall it’s a great looking Benji! But all three are very nice!

Thanks. My guess is probably PVC since I don’t really know how to spot it and I can’t find anything else wrong with the coin.

The answer is quit simple why your Franklin did not get a cac sticker. CAC only sticker coins that are solid for the grade. If the coin is at the lower end of the grade the coin won’t CAC. In another word there is a grade within a grade at each level. Is this ms65 at the low end of just barely making it to the 65 level, or was it right in the middle of a 65 level graded coin, or is it in the high level of 65 almost making it to the 66 level. Lower levels within the grade does not get a CAC sticker. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I’m aware of the whole ABC thing. To me, the 1957 is about as nice a 65 as you’ll ever see. So there’s some other reason than it being low end for the grade, because I’m 99.99% sure that’s not the reason. Eventually I’ll have it sent back in because I’m very curious about what they didn’t like.
