Nice video. I just picked up a couple American Eagles and two Walking Liberties from my little Coin / Jewelry and Watch shop. Picked up a couple Franklin's and a few Walking Liberties last week. Your 1917 D is my Dads Birthday year ! Love the Onza Libertads, I have a few also and would love more since they are such a beautiful coin. Thanks for sharing ✌

I can see all the things your saying about the 57, but overall it’s a great looking Benji! But all three are very nice!

Thanks. My guess is probably PVC since I don’t really know how to spot it and I can’t find anything else wrong with the coin.

I have hundreds of Benny's in my constitutional silver pile. All of my silver is from 1955-1964 when I had multiple paper routes of those years and collected silver coins to pay for their newspaper. I have over 3,000 dollars in silver coins. Ben and John halfs George Quarters Merc and Rosey dimes. I am 77 and was 8-17 years old as a newspaper boy. Here is some irony April 65 was my last month as a paperboy. May 65 I graduated from trade high school. June 65 I joined the Army. By March 66 I was 18 flying helicopters in Vietnam at a MACV-SOG special forces base in Quang Tri province.

I thought maybe that was the case. Regrettably I haven’t done enough research on PVC damage so I’m unable to spot it. That’s something I need to educate myself on more.

The answer is quit simple why your Franklin did not get a cac sticker. CAC only sticker coins that are solid for the grade. If the coin is at the lower end of the grade the coin won’t CAC. In another word there is a grade within a grade at each level. Is this ms65 at the low end of just barely making it to the 65 level, or was it right in the middle of a 65 level graded coin, or is it in the high level of 65 almost making it to the 66 level. Lower levels within the grade does not get a CAC sticker. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I’m aware of the whole ABC thing. To me, the 1957 is about as nice a 65 as you’ll ever see. So there’s some other reason than it being low end for the grade, because I’m 99.99% sure that’s not the reason. Eventually I’ll have it sent back in because I’m very curious about what they didn’t like.

The 1957... Contact mark near F in HALF? Suspect toning. Chatter. Solid MS65 still.

Good eye! I’ll have to take a closer look when I get home later. I do agree on the toning, it is a little funny. I don’t know if artificial toning was a big thing back when this was graded. Who knows.

for the 1957 FBL its because of the surfaces of the coin. Im A CAC member (4682*). Its because over years it has developed 100%. Im also a franklin guy i have over 100 graded and all the proofs etc. The coin would need to be removed from the holder and restored/dipped/conserved etc. its a gorgeous coin nonetheless, would just take more work and money or more effort to make it perfect. Which it is possible to have the coin restored. Worth a shot if your using it for a rregistry set, or just getting a better version of the coin. Hope this help.

Because of the toning? I have many fully toned coins that are approved by CAC.

I EDC a 21' Morgan without any serious numismatics value but great details to show curious people or an Eagle but keep the eagle in a capsule. Been recently carrying around a 2023 dragon coin bar but only because I ended up flipping one just because I had it on me at the time. Always nice making a little profits and putting the cash into increasing the stack/collection. Great video and coins mate. Have a great week 🙂

Gorgeous Franklins. The toning on that 65 is amazing. Im looking to add my first walker and Franklin to the collection still. Not looking for and key dates, just ones with good details and luster. Unfortunately don't have coin shows around here and I'm never sure if a price on eBay is good or not. Any pointers on finding a good deal for something that isn't a crazy year? I don't plan on selling but id still like to know I'm not paying above what it's worth on and eBay auction. don't have a lot of cash but my love of numismatics is seriously growing.

From what's shown in the video its not only a Libertad its a 1986! that is an incredible find, super jealous !
@FranklinHalfAddict6 ай бұрын
@@djjd8520 really?? I only knew of the 1991 that was a rarer date. At least off the top of my head I think it’s 91, maybe 92. I’m going to have to study up on my dates to know what are the harder to find ones. I have noticed that it always seems like the ones they have are either 1983 or 84.
@FranklinHalfAddict6 ай бұрын
@@djjd8520 I just checked mintages. 1986 was a little over 1.6 mil which is about average. The 1987 had a mintage of 500,000. The 98 and 99 are both below 100,000. So those are the ones to keep an eye out for. My LCS did have a 2017 recently that I didn’t pick up. And the mintage on that one was 636,000.
