As an American coin collector/roll hunter this was very cool and interesting to watch. Had no idea there were so many versions of Canadian coins or that there was even a silver recovery program for coins in Canada. Every time i find silver Dimes Quarters or half dollars in circulation I hold onto them haha. Love the video... very cool!

Thanks so much for watching! I'm glad you enjoyed a peek at Canadian coins. Our circulating colourized coins are somewhat unique - most prevalent in quarters.

Lol I just realised what CAD standed for😆 😅 😂
@CADRollHunter Жыл бұрын
Yes, it's just an international standard convention for indicating the Canadian Dollar. The country code for Canada is "CA" and the "D" stands for Dollar. Hence, "CAD."

Very interesting James! Canadian CRH-videos aren't super common on KZbin in general, but Looney hunts seem to be rarer still. And I thought it was funny how you enjoyed finding that US dollar, because many US collectors don't seem to like them.
@CADRollHunter2 жыл бұрын
Isn't that how it is - a foreign coin is often more interesting and more valued by the collector, even if they're common (or even reviled!) in their home country. I'm guessing few coin roll hunters are keen on tying up $1000 all at once for a hunt?

Those are some awesome hunts there, eh. Luckily, I bought a 1995 UN Peacekeeping Memorial Loonie at my local coin shop for around PHP80 (approx. $1.50), plus in good condition with some slight luster and gunk on it. Man, I would really want to find some more Canadian coins on my coin shop soon. Again, those are some awesome hunts.
@CADRollHunter2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, Gilbert! I think as long as your coin shop knows you are interested in Canadian coins, they might take them in if offered. Some shops find it very hard to move foreign coins, if there's not a lot of demand.
@RealGilbertGan2 жыл бұрын
@@CADRollHunter well, truth to be told, it wasn't much of a coin shop, but they actually have a bunch of world coins ranging from the US, Britain, Euros, Japan and even the Middle East. The coin shop I often visit is mostly in fact a jewelry repair shop, but they do sell them foreign coins. And to be honest, I would buy foreign coins from fellow coin collectors/sellers on Facebook, mostly in my country. I would ask anyone if they have either US or Canadian coins - clad or silver - at a lower price.

What is the colorized part supposed to be on the klondike loonie? It looks like a mutant scorpion rather than a moose.
@CADRollHunter2 жыл бұрын
Quoting the Mint: "A powerful symbol of cultural revitalization, the pictorial symbol for Ëdhä Dädhëchą (Moosehide Slide) is highlighted in red and white on selectively coloured coins; it appears on the opposite side of the creek, and represents the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in and their deep, abiding connection to the land."

@CADRollHunter Жыл бұрын
Machine wrapped rolls are very likely to be ARP rolls, particularly in my area. But not all of them. Some businesses that deal with a lot of coins (transit, laundromats, etc.) have their own rolling machines, and they could have silver. That might be what you found. Very cool!
