My personal comfort level for security is a pin (12 digits) protected Trezor model T (words are shown AND typed into device only) with 12 word seed (easily memorized) and long 50 character passphrase (one that's personal and unforgettable). The seed is punched into stainless steel and the passphrase is never written down. Two people I love and trust know the passphrase only... so if I die, they can find my seed and combine it with my passphrase. The 12 word seed has 128 bits of entropy (considered more than strong enough) but my passphrase bumps up the total entropy to 412 bits (according to multiple entropy calculators available online). So now I can transport 100% of my wealth across any border by simply remembering 12 words. But the passphrase makes the security higher than a 24 word seed.

Hi, I have an idea for simpler solutions: 1. Solution for one heir who inherits your crypto after you die: 2-of-2 Multisignature wallet. It's basically a method, in which you have 2 private keys (let's say key A and key B) instead of one, and you need both of them in order to access your crypto. You could have both keys in your possession in order to be able to use the wallet while you are alive, give a copy of key A to your heir (wife/child/friend...) and give a copy of key B to a Notary with your last will. Your heir cannot access the funds without the final will (so while you are alive) with only key A that he/she has, and neither can the Notary access them with only thr key B. So even if the Notary or your Heir would try to access them, it would be impossible without their cooperation 2. If you want multiple heirs (let's say N), one solution could be similar to first example (only one heir) but instead of creating one wallet you create N wallets using N+1 private keys, all wallets would have one common private key (only you and Notary know), and the second key unique for each wallet. Example with having 4 heirs (meaning 5 private keys, let's call them ABCDE): /// BEFORE YOU DIE /// ---key ownership--- You: all 5 keys (ABCDE) Notary: key E Heir 1: key A Heir 2: key B Heir 3: key C Heir 4: key D ---Keys necessary for wallet access using 2-of-2 multisig--- Wallet 1: keys A+E Wallet 2: B+E Wallet 3: C+E Wallet 4: D+E ---Access to wallets based on keys in possession and keys necessary for wallet access--- You: All wallets Others: No wallet /// AFTER YOU DIE /// ---key ownership--- You: X Notary: key E Heir 1: keys A+E Heir 2: keys B+E Heir 3: keys C+E Heir 4: keys D+E ---Keys necessary for wallet access using 2-of-2 multisig--- (Same as before you died) ---Access to wallets based on keys in possession and keys necessary for wallet access--- You: X Notary: No wallet Heir 1: only Wallet 1 Heir 2: only Wallet 2 Heir 3: only Wallet 3 Heir 4: only Wallet 4 If you find a Notary that you can trust, then you have a solution here. If you want a solution without the Notary (completely decentralized and secure solution), you might have to wait a few more years for more advanced solutions. Anyways, these solutions are sufficient enough for now in my opinion. more detailed explanation of how multisig wallets work can be found here: en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Multi-signature (Or just search "Multisignature cryptocurrency wallets" if you don't trust links from strangers :)) If your needs are more specific and these solutions are not good enough for you, let me know about your needs so I can try to propose a solution for your specific needs :) P.S.: I know it has been a year since you asked the question, but I hope this helps someone anyways :)
