So, doing the math, $39 million dollars worth of gold on the spool in January 2016, when gold was $1100 per ounce, comes to about 35,500 ounces of gold. Today (11/1/20), with gold at $1902 per ounce, it'd be worth over $64 million.

The spool of gold actually has a mass of a tonne (t), metric ton, megagram (Mg), 1000 kg, 31103.4768 ozt, or about 2204 lb 10 oz. The spot price of gold was just under $1840/ozt, so the coil of gold is worth $57.21M! --- [XE 2020-12-06 11:51 UTC] 1 ozt Au = $1,839.34025072 31,103.4768 ozt Au = $57,209,876.82 The error of 4 lb 10 oz is 67.41323529464719 ozt, or about $123,995.88.

In the past I always collected fractional gold eagles, but have now switched to austrian fractional gold bullion. For being a higher purity as well as lower price point this is my new favorite gold coin. Only have the 1/10 and 1/4 oz philaharmonic, and they are both absolutely stunning coins. The details on these are perfect and can tell they take pride in their coin making.

I will check this out, just on looks alone they haven't been my favorite, but with its lower premiums I will definitely consider a fractional piece for my next purchase! My number one choice has been the krugerrand, then the Britannia.

I don't like the design and the sides aren't reeded. But gold is gold, but I don't stack the philharmonics.

@@lamarravery4094 they are reeded, but they have 6 lines between two big gaps that are 2 lines thick in a repeating pattern. Its actually pretty neat looking reeding for such a tiny coin

Quite impressive viewing the gold spool and all that gold. MS69s and MS70s, any imperfection of the coin can only be viewed under 8x magnifying lens. As someone who loves MS70s, just goes to show you how narrow the difference yet that little extra is so meaningful is numismatic coin pricing. But these are just bullion.
@oahuhawaii2141
@oahuhawaii2141 3 жыл бұрын
The way they handle and stack the coins, it isn't surprising that a typical MS70 strike picks up a nick that drops it to MS69.

@oliverjarosi
@oliverjarosi 7 жыл бұрын
possibly. It depends on the size of a coin. You can definitely very easily make a dent in it with your keys for example. This softness of .999 gold is the reason why most wearable jewellery pieces (especially rings) are made out of .750 and .585 alloy

If each coin is an ounce gold coin, in Canadian terms, for each round containing 10 coins Is worth $28500 per round. Each tray consists of 9 deep 7 across for total of 63 rounds/10 coins per. Meaning just one tray of these gold planchets is worth $17,955,000. Looks to be about 9 complete trays there. SO just slightly under 17 million in Gold planchets in one scene alone, at the 7.03 mark. And that's just a drop in bucket compared to amount they are making, like wow! Actually my math is way off, there is a lot more there then one knows.

@samkom33
@samkom33 3 жыл бұрын
They set a fantasy number for tax reasons i guess. becouse here in norway, and i think in england you have to pay sale tax for buying metal, say BARS. But money-coins with a set value is tax free. but only somone silly would use a gold ore silver coin to buy a bread. although its possible if your realy hungry. haha i have only a few philarmonics silver coins 1.5 euro which i bought for around 25 dollar each + a few dollar premium. IM SAVING UP FOR MY FIRST GOLD COIN. i want a 1 oz coin.. those half oz and 1/4 and 1/10 and say 1 gram is cool but often have a lot of premium.
