I am from India but I admit that Pakistan is a reservoir of musical and cultural talent. Being grounded and sticking to the very roots always unleashes the purity in compositions, something that more or less seems to have got diluted in the Indian subcontinent. Not that we don't have enough talent but they are not being channelised in the right direction. But Pakistani vocalists, lyricists and music arrangers are doing a great job by keeping themselves set on the right track. Beautiful composition portraying out of the world lyrics and a wonderful baritone by the singer. Mesmerising to say the least. Truly, music knows no boundaries. In fact, it is capable of breaking all boundaries. Love from India.

And if you thought Coke Studio Season 9 only gave you Momina, then you are mistaken! Mohsin Abbas Hyder, a yet another coke studio debutant, has gone onto hit a first-ball-sixer as well with Uddi Ja - a song that he wrote, sang and also composed initially! Again like 'Ali Sethi' he too seems to be a recently turned singer (read his wiki) and has dabbled with many hats in his career - RJ, DJ, lyricist, actor! For someone who learned singing recently, hitting notes of this beautiful melody on raag yaman so beautifully with so much soul and command and yet with an interesting softness just at the right instances of the melody is unreal! Coming to the composition, Jaffer Zaidi is on a roll! First Jaane Na Tu, then Man Kunto Maula and now this! Jaffer has spanned different genres with perfection and great creativity! The song starts as a soft Punjabi number primarily on a guitar background, he then progressively introduces light strings and then bass and before you know it, in comes dholak, harmonium and the qawwals and hijack what was a soft number to a qawwali arrangement! And this alternating arrangement continues till the climax with a beautiful cameo in between by Sajaad Ali with his flute. The second half of the song sees the humnawab's singing the chorus while Mohsin improvises over them with some beautiful off notes! The chorus is in raag yaman while the main melody has elements of khamaaj with use of komal ni. While melodically different they fuse beautifully to give a good overall feel ably aided by the arrangement. The song ends with the flute and Mohsin ending again with a unique softness amidst fading instruments! There are places where you just go wow listening to Mohsin's singing! Mohsin exhibits great control with his voice. The moment he starts (0.20), you feel a pleasing softness in his tone that makes the divine connection. While being soft, he also has a great throw in portions where the pitch is high and notes are crisp and immaculate (like at 0.34 and also at the ending portion where he actually contrasts with the main melody with off notes! Mind you that's not easy!). Overall a track that will welcome the weekend for you on a divine note and perhaps you'll be hooked on to this one for quite some time!

Beginning to end, the song had so much of grasp and refused to give up its vibe till the last chord. Imran Akhoond and Momo doing what they do best. The guitar strums were a bit suppressed but I guess the song required that. And the moment the qawwals entered with the chorus, it was an aasmani aamad from there on. Rachel's backing group sitting this one out shows the need based maturity that the studio has gained now. Nothing, but love for this track. AAN DO !!!!

I hated this guy more than anything. This song has made me cry more than i ever did. I can't believe he wrote this song himself. These words are just so out of this world! He expressed What i never could have felt inside me. we are sinners. This song is a dua for what people like us would die to get. its like a simple formula to regain the love Allah created us for. i believe Mohsin Abbas is a pious man deep inside.
