Thanks for the Coke Time salute to the Teenagers, aired June 27, 1960 on ABC-TV. This is a classic episode with a who's who of guests. This is wonderful. And with a live and filmed commercial for Coca Cola, too.

There is a scene in this special where Ed Byrnes is playing a record of all the stars in this show singing their hit songs at the same time. Then Bob Denver joins in and they both try to isolate each of the songs...all the guests start sing their hits in turn and the girls in the audience go wild!! I guess it is not here, but the clarity of this video is great considering the time it was made.

I'm sure the audience was already excited, but knowing television as I do I'm also sure they had hype men suggesting they scream as loud as they could.

This was a far more innocent era which was doing quite well UNTIL the Beatles & the British invasion". Note: Elvis was in the military Chuck Berry had got into trouble and was in prison. Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old cousin (totally ruined his career) Little Richard had "temporarily" found religion. So ALL of the "dangerous" "sexy" founding fathers were off the scene, and thanks to Dick Clark & American Bandstand we were left with Bobby Rydell, Bobby Darin, Bobby Vee, Frankie, Fabian, Ricky, Paul Anka and they all had talent, but more important they were all "clean cut" and SAFE!
