My mom used to make this and was a family favorite. She used cola and ketchup. The sauce was always poured over our mashed potatoes. Of course that long ago she cut up her chicken and we ate individual pieces. This was delicious

Much cheaper than in California... boneless, skinless here are about $7.99+ and sometimes you can find them on sale for a little less. Recipe looks delicious and must try it...as always, thank you for sharing!

We use our Crockpot year round ….. great recipe idea Catherine ….. the one thing we always do when we use ours is in between the lid and the crock line it with a thick layer of paper towels while it’s cooking ….. they catch most of the condensation so you don’t have a pool of liquid in your food !! The food comes out much tastier not being covered in moisture !

Good morning Catherine. I agree that cola is the perfect thing to add to the sauce for barbecued chicken - so much better than just plain old water. Sometimes if you add a little grape jelly it also helps.

You just can not go wrong with barbeque chicken, especially in the crockpot where it gets sooo tender. I believe your "trifecta" of sides looked just about perfect and they somehow seemed familiar lol. Ive been using my crockpot a lot more this year from all of your inspirational recipes too! I did finally break down and bought a good size package of crockpot liners off of Amazon. They are not just for quick clean up (save any leftovers, throw the bag away,) but I only wash the lid and put the crockpot back on the shelf. Love you guys, God bless. Shirley.

I made this yesterday and it was so delicious! Also, thanks for the tip about using that black kitchen tool for shredding the chicken. I had bought it after you showed using it to break up ground beef while browning hamburger(works great). That was the easiest way I have ever shredded chicken. Thanks for the info!

I spray my crockpot most of the time unless I forget to do it. Then, I just let it soak in hot soapy water. I love my meat chopper.

Great looking dish! I make a similar recipe, but with thin cut pork chops (bone in chops tastes better). Same ingredients then add 3/4-1 cup chopped or diced up raisins (adds sticky sweetness & a thicker sauce). Sweet & juicy & as tender as can be. Same sides +/- applesauce.
