Explore the historic Colabrese Brothers General Store in the beautiful mountain town of Thomas, West Virginia.
Located in the heart of the Allegheny Mountains, the town of Thomas has a story to tell. It's a story of immigration, industry, and community. It's an American story, and it's one that's partly told by the buildings that have stood in the town through much of its journey.
The store was founded in 1936 by the Colabrese family who immigrated from Italy in the late 1910's and settled in Thomas to work in the coal mines. It carried lots of general merchandise from hardware, wallpaper, miners sundries, even Harley Davidson motorcycles! Many old items still can be found and displayed inside these 110 years old walls.
As you walk in to the store, you immediately feel like you are stepping back into time. From the antique toys, to the old fashioned penny candy, the entire store is a throwback to the good ol days.
In early 2000, Bob and Andrea Anderson of Baltimore, Maryland purchased the store after falling in love with it after a visit to Thomas and decided to preserve this piece of American history.
