@@MS-ii1sv a fair point. Although I feel that film Jessica and book Jessica are two similar yet different characters and should be handled as such. If she had read the books and had a preconceived notion of how Jessica should be played, that might have interfered with how the character should be played for the film. I guarantee she had people who did read the books and understand the character so well that were able to convey to her the essence of the character. Of course this is all speculation and opinion, and both arguments are valid. Having read the books and seen the movies in my opinion she did a damn good job.

Either way they missed an opportunity to display the formidable nature of the Bene Gesserit.

If you had actually read the book yourself, you'd know that her portrayal of Lady Jessica is absolutely wrong. Nothing about the character in the film is even remotely like it's supposed to be. In truth, the entire film (both of them) fail to even begin to get anything about the books correct.

the plot in Part 3 is going to be different. Part 2 is already substantially different. No Leto II, no Count Fenring, Chani is PISSED at the end rather than just taking it (Irulan), Paul sends the Emperor the "House Atreides Lives, motherclucker, come out and play" scroll. And that's just off the top of my head when I haven't looked at 90% of the book in 37 years. And, how could you leave her out? Denis Villeneuve is a genius though, he'll do whatever makes the (cinematic) story better.

After "Dune: Part II", I can definitely say she's currently the most active Hollywood actress with the BEST line of work. Margot Robbie is close, but Rebecca's edge is having a diverse range of genres. She's done sci-fi, horror, fantasy, action, historical drama and erotica is a span of a decade!
