I can see why you might think that looking in from the outside, but there's still a lot the president can't do. Sanctuary cities in certain states are actively going against Trumps orders to report illegal immigrants like it's no big thing, and states ignore federal laws all the time (like marijuana being illegal for example). You're right, the president does have a lot of power within the federal government, but the reach of the federal government in the states dwindles real fast the further you go. It's a balance of power deal, and one of the concepts the United States was founded on, "No kings allowed". Trump can make all the rules he wants, but ultimately the individual states can choose to ignore him.

The issues in the Middle East goes way further back than that. The Cold War is when America started arming the Middle East against the Russians and getting involved in trying to manipulate the Middle East countries in America's favor. Also, the American government is completely dependent on the oil sold by the Middle East because we still haven't taken climate change seriously and the rich are too heavily invested in making money off of oil instead of researching alternative sources of energy. So we've been in bed with the Middle East since the 70s when there was the gas shortage which ushered in the gas efficient cars of the 80s. So it goes way further back than Bush Jr or Obama. Bush Jr made the situation worse by bombing a country with no proof of WMDs and Obama had to deal with the terrorists that were created by all the shit we've don't in the Middle East. Not once did anyone ever ask why terrorists would kamikaze planes on American soil on 9/11. Most of the country just clapped as we declared war instead of asking why. And don't sit there and say it's because of religious fanatics. You still have to believe that you're doing the right thing by killing thousands of civilians. They think we're the bad guys (and maybe we are because of what we've done for decades in the Middle East) and that's why they attack America.
