I love that level crossing I’ve been there thousands of times and it’s so nostalgic reminds me of going to Colchester as a kid :’)

Nice video and crossing! If that abandoned signal box isn't listed, I'd be surprised nothing's happened to it, as it's been a good 12-13 years or so since re-signalling up there. Certainly looks an eyesore tbh. Quite a busy crossing for trains going on the timetable for the junction next to it. 👌👍

Thanks! 😁 Yeah it is quite an eyesore, certainly not as aesthetically pleasing as other signal boxes I've seen.

@@sophiamitsuda-ashworth5949 The barriers are around 12-13 years old. That area was re-signalled in 2008-2009 tine (not quite sure of exactly when though).

Sophia Mitsuda-Ashworth This crossing, along with several others on the line to Clacton were upgrade between 2007 and 2009 during the Colchester to Clacton Resignalling Project. During that period this crossing wouldv'e become monitored by CCTV and old GWE barriers and halogen lights replaced

@@sophiamitsuda-ashworth5949 The barriers at the Bollo Lane crossings are SPX Fluid Power types so my guess is that there were installed in the early 2000s. At the same time the barriers were replaced I think the older halogen lights were replaced with newer halogen lights. These newer halogen lights were replaced at the Richmond line crossing around 2009 or 2010 and at the Kew line crossing between 2012 and 2014 to LEDs
