In this video we install an airaid cold air intake. I know there are several different cold air intakes for the 4.8 and 5.3 Silverado and Sierra on the market. In my opinion the open filter to the hot engine doesn't gain as much but I could be wrong. I have always had great luck with the airaid products. This is the tube only or the M.I.T. kit. It reuses your factory air box and fits Great. I also chose to use a green filter usa air filter. I like the design and I think the green filter usa filter flows the best from testing. I did decide to test the performance after installing but with tire spin the dragy didn't give me any good news. If you are looking for the best fitting cold air intake or cai for a silverado sierra, this won't disappoint. It fits great and the cost isn't bad. Kind of a budget cold air intake for silverado and sierra trucks. Beware that this only works with electric fans. Hit the Comments and let me know what you think.......

The heck with those filters you have to oil!!!!! Go with an AEM dry type of filter, no oiling at all. Whern you use oil, it will eventually coat the MAF sensor and you wind up with a code. Plus you dont want oil being baked onto the sensor,will shorten its life as the wire gets hot, will get hotter with a coating on it, you arent supposed to touch the wire when cleaning the MAF sensor spray cleaner is all you should use to clean it no scrubbing.

I've had K&N filters on all my vehicles and have not experienced any issues with them. Just clean and oil them properly and you'll be fine. A lot of people tend to drench these filters in oil thinking they will benefit from it but nope.

I found after an intake swap it is beneficial to retune your MAF curve... basically calibrating the fuel mixture. In filtered mass air calculations only it doesn't use the o2 sensors and hard coded. That may make a difference. Bad ass truck for sure. Somebody's gonna get a clean deal!

I have used this on a 13 Yukon and 19 AT4 6.2 and I did notice a better throttle response. Definitely sounded a bit more throaty as well.

I installed an Airaid MIT on my previous 03 Silverado with a K&N drop in filter and my current 07 Avalanche with a AEM drop in filter. I think it give better throttle response but I didn’t notice any difference in fuel mileage. But in response to a comment you made earlier in the video, my 03 Silverado had a mechanical fan with the big fan shroud and the MIT fit perfectly.

I like the Airaid MIT. I've installed them on my old 03 Yukon Denali and 15 Tahoe to get rid of the ridiculously bulky factory intake tubes. I like retaining the factory airbox, much easier to replace the air filter. It may not provide a ton of performance, but you get a nice intake growl out of it and it cleans up the look.

It is so hard to see immediate improvements with bolt on modifications. It takes time for the computer to relearn and adapt to the changes. I dreaded unhooking the battery in my 99-02 Pontiacs. It seemed like it took 6 months for the trans table to get back to shifting right, and then it was back to storage and unhooking the battery. Didn't have power in the storage barn so I could leave it on a tender

That thing has a ton of torque management in it.....still. You can hear it. That's why it's not really accelerating any better. You also need to get your shifts points up to 6k rpm maybe slightly more. It really helps with the shift recovery into 2nd gear...and 3rd with such a wide spread between ratios. My uncles 03 5.3 silverado rcsb 4x4 went 15.3@92 in 85* heat. Likely had a little more in it but he had to leave the track early. Each pass he made he was getting faster. So your little tires 2wd could likely go well into the 14s with the tm removed.
