Cold case murder victim's identity REVEALED after nearly 50 years in Grundy County

She was known as Jane Seneca Doe. We now know her real name: JoAnn "Vicky" Smith.
A woman's Grundy County murder has been the subject of a cold case since 1976. Nearly 50 years later, her has finally been revealed.
NBC Chicago’s Regina Waldroup reports.

Finally, after such a long time, Vicky was identified. So sorry this hapened to this beautiful young Lady. And I hope so much, that her killer will be found soon, so he can be put behind bars, where he needs to be. May her family find some sort of solace and peace.

I wouldn't say there's really closure for the family yet, Vicky's killer is still unknown, and he hasn't faced any consequences.

She was working and also going to college. She had a vision of a great future for herself. If she had lived her possibilities would have been endless. I thank those officers who were so driven to find out the identity of of Vicki. I have no doubt she was by their sides and whispering in their ears. She too rejoiced when her family was notified. Now, she can rest in peace. In another video the men said, she would be buried with her parents.

So sorry for the loss. Bottom line? God wants us to forgive whomever for whatever reason. If we refuse to forgive others, God can't forgive us either. That's in the bible guys. They clearly said only one part of the mystery has been solved. Identifying her will Possibly help narrow down her killer. This definitely helps the family who had zero clue where she was for the past 40. This isn’t a CSI episode where the killer is found in 40 minutes.
