Great video, fell about laughing . We did Cold Fell up and down from that parking spot at the foot of the fell. For Ponsonby it's better from Gosforth (Wellington) nice tracks until you get to that last boggy bit.Actually have done this one twice as we took in the 2 Birkett tops nearby. This is the fell that Wainwright said was almost not worth climbing lol.

I haven't read wainwrights books yet.. i thought i would do them first as to not be influenced by what he says.. so aye probably would have put me off these ones haha. i thought there must be a more pleasant way up Ponsonby.. I havent started looking at Birketts yet but glad I accidentally walked over the 2 in this area cos I doubt ill ever be back.. thanks for watching, tek care :)

Looks chilly there mind, good name for a Fell in those conditions, especially when you are falling in rivers..... I was on Lank Rigg last Friday and got sunburnt and nearly a fall for me too, albeit no way near as bad as yours. Just as well you found that bridge, that is one river crossing you do not want to tackle and with all that bog I bet you were pleased you were going going back the same way. Don't think I have ever seen any videos on any of those fells and I can see why now.....cheers Alan

aye you would have been looking down on these 2 fells from lank rigg.. there is a much easier way to do ponsonby fell but i cant say it would be worth the hassle as with most of these outlying fells.. luckily am still agile enough to hop a wall and cross a river otherwise id be stuffed.. hopefully i will learn my lesson before i kill masel.. cheers Alan, tek care lad :)

Well, that was a more difficult walk than I thought when I opened the video. Had to smile at some of your musings during the walk. Anybody who's done done any fellwalking has taken the wrong route from time to time. Very expansive view from the top of Ponsonby mind.

yea i realise now there is a much MUCH easier way to do Ponsonby fell.. this was just a stupid circular gpx file i downloaded, created clearly by someone who has never actually walked it.. luckily am still just about agile enough to make my own way to where i need to be.. cheers lad, thanks :)

I feel your pain Dave 😂 warts and all nothing left out. We all take the wrong path at times, but it makes the hike an adventure. As you say worth it for the views. Great video as per 👍

That was certainly a rough walk from Cold Fell to Ponsonby Fell. All credit to you. Great views though. Enjoyed the video very much.

@@gm4wha cheers av realised I've been downloading walks from a ridiculous website.. av learned a lesson from this walk and will be sticking to well trodden paths from now on... it's funny when you get back to the car but alot of unneeded stress.. haha.. thanks lad, tek care 😫

Great watch a punisher of a trudge! Ponsonby Fell much more pleasant from Wellington via Blengdale Forest which is a decent walk. Cold Fell not advisable from there though.

@@TheeReturn yea am starting to realise this is not a viable circular route I have done.. however as unpleasant as it was.. it was a bloody adventure 🤣

i use the garmin instinct.. i think they about 200 but i got myn on ebay for about 130 so you can pick up good deals on there... there is a garmin instinct solar version now that recharges as you walk but the battery on the regular instinct lasts plenty for me.. thanks for watching, tek care :)

@@Traceyattrill-Essexgirlinwild aye that makes total sense.. av avoided using the wainwright books till av done the hills as to try not to be influenced of my opinion of the hills.. luckily I'm pretty sure that's the worst of the routes done now.. just a lot of driving to come for multiple short walks 😫

Bloody hell Dave, you made hard work of that! This is how we did Ponsonby Fell (it's one of my early ones, so a bit rubbish [especially the audio]): kzbin.info/www/bejne/aXjdXmSpfb5oepo When it comes to Cold Fell I just intend to park at the bottom and leg it up and down.

😂😂 Bonkers Route, I would never use the Walking Englishman routes they so old and a lot are just drawn from hill to hill direct, I always plot my own on Garmin Connect on the Laptop, it shows a heat map of most trodden paths, loving the absolute rawness and true nature of what these OFs entail Stomp On Fella 🥾🥾⛰️⛰️💙💙
