We've got a windmill palm we've had here in southern Ohio, for 10 years. Brought it back from Florida when it was a foot tall. It's now six foot tall and it sits on our deck. In the winter we bring it in the unheated garage. It flowered this summer for the first time

That's really cool. Unfortunately mine didn't make it through the harsh winter, and the false spring we had here in northern Kentucky! I put a decent layer of mulch down for him but I know my mistake was putting him in a terra cotta pot. That was a rookie mistake. I got another one though. I'll have to do an update video on it all and let everyone learn from my mistakes! This was a pretty tough winter though. I lost a handful of my favorite bonsai trees. That false spring really did a number on a bunch of plants in this area. Lesson learned!

@@TheGreenAlchemist mine is in a huge plastic pot about 2 foot tall and 2 foot in diameter. I tried planting one in the ground years ago. It lasted until it got to zero. It handled the snow on it just not the ground temperature

We have huge windmill palms up here in the Pacific Northwest. I have seen some 50 foot tall windmills in the old town part of Tacoma, Washington where I live. They are starting to become more popular up here as people move north from warm places south. They grow all over the place in Vancouver, British Columbia as well. We are lucky to be zone 8a and 8b near the salt water here this far north.

Thanks! I'll tell Yami he's got another fan! lol. I know, these are great palm trees! They look cool, don't take too much to keep them happy, and don't mind some cold/snow! Thanks for watching! 🌲

They grow wild here in California in the central valley. I just pulled two out of my yard and one got away from me and is pretty big now.
