LYSINE! Gets rid of it every time for me! If I'm able to notice the tingling sensation before the cold sore blossoms (for lack of better words) and start taking lysine supplements right away it doesn't stand a chance. I feel so fortunate to know this because it's helped save me from some incredibly embarrassing moments.

How much do you take? I have some in my medicine cabinet I got a while back when I heard many people swearing by l lysine working. For preventing and shortening duration of cold sores but I have yet to use it. I usually only get one once or twice a year but am terrified that I will give it to my five yr old so I keep a bandaid over my sore constantly which is hard to do since on my lip.

Zinc oxide … get a tube of pure zinc oxide … when you feel a sensation put a ample layer on … wear it for at least 30 minutes …longer is better and overnight if you get it near evening … you won’t have a sore at all if you put it on as soon as you feel a sensation … otherwise your sore heals quicker 💋

Word of caution covering a cold sore with a patch. For me, it makes it worse as it’s keeping it moist, especially in the oozing stage as it causes mine to spread.

I'm not sure if its safe but, I use a ointment from 'Puressentiel' brand for cold sore. I also apply washed ghee .. multivitamins has helped me tremendously..

my dad gave it to me when I was a kid (his defense he didn't know, it was in the 70s). I find if I use the quantum lysine lip balm it helps to keep them at bay unless I am very stressed, I might get 1 a year now.

I take 3000mg of Lysine every day and I rarely get them anymore. If I do feel one coming I will take 4000mg (2 in the am 2 in the pm). The sore doesn't blister and it clears up within a couple of days

I get confused with canker sores and cold sores. I’ve never had an out break on my outer lips but only inside, which looks completely different. I use to get them as a little girl like crazy I couldn’t eat . I’m assuming those are not herpes related? Would you be able to explain? I’m confused.

‼️‼️I’ve been a stress ball over the last few months and I’ve gotten one cold sore after another. What has saved me are those darn patches… Genius! I learned this from Wayne Goss who mentioned using them in a video last year, and it was a lightbulb moment for me! I’m pretty sure I read some people carry it but never experience and outbreak. Like my mom had it and gave it to me by sharing drinks and giving me a kiss as a child and two of my siblings get them but my other sibling and dad do not even though they are never careful and have drank off someone’s straw who has had them. I think it may lay dormant in some people. I wish that was me because they are so itchy and painful and ugly. You can’t help but stare at someone’s lip when they are talking to you and they have a cold sore. I am not trying to be mean because I also get them.
