Testing Cold Steel Bokken and doing a mini review on it to see how this polypropylene training weapon performs in my test. We will be chopping rebreakable boards that were 100% laid down on a soft bouncy surface, just to let you see what these things can do! Really, thumbs up for Cold Steel!

Kal El Yes I have hit those board a lot of times and they still don't break, they only snap, LOL! I guess it's made from some very hard plastic...?

I own that exact rebreakable board. On breaks 1-10 it is a bit tough, but after a dozen or so breaks it loses all strength. Im breaking the black one with my fingertips.

Great review! I like that you have training models for auto-loading pistols on the table. I think too many people neglect Firearms (for various reasons), which is one of the 3 main martial arts. Brawl and Melee being the other 2. Even if you don't like guns or refuse to use them, one should know how they operate and function, the safety rules, and the basics of how to use them I would give anything to teach these Chinese security ladies about firearms (pistols/handguns in particular), because I can clearly see several ways to fix their technique from this video alone, although they are competent at Brawl and Melee as well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2HSaJ-Xn8-teMk I respect people who train in all 3, and personally believe in going about it like Red Mage lol Cold Steel says these are "cut resistant." SwordBuyer'sGuide shows they are indeed (as you say) cut right through. Several other reviews show how these fare against practice swords (made blunt), and they do rather well. Sometimes they get cut into a bit and that has to be filed down. I have only seen these bokken cut when fixed in place, I think they'd take more than just 1 hit if in the hands of a person blocking with it who has some give and leverage etc, instead of holding them fixed in a vice for maximum transfer of force etc. I just wanted to put that there, since I've never seen that specific issue hashed out totally right from all angles in the dozen or so vids I've watched on this Those re-breakable training boards look awesome to, I'm adding them to the "gear to get" list. My Karate dojo never did any of that stuff. The black belts trained by hiting a makiwara (I probably spelled that wrong, apologies), which is basically just a specially cut wooden board riveted to the ground via a little stand, and with some padding at the top. The student hits the board with fist, elbow, foot, ect. Sensei stood behind the board, with his hand up in a "high five' position. Sensei would step closer or further, and the student had to hit the board hard enough to lightly touch sensei's palm - every time. I saw his best student do reverse punches into a makiwara for 5 minutes at full force, then do another 5 minutes with the other hand. We could tell it hurt. By the end, his hands had lost some skin and were a bit bloodied. There was a wooden bucket in the back with fresh salt water. He ran back, sterilized his hands, and we all resumed training. I hit the thing a bit at a gashyuku (again, probably spelled that wrong, apologies), and felt lucky to survive just a couple minutes. It was painful, but not damaging, unless I hit with full force and no regard for my own hand several times in a row. Sensei balanced the board's length, spring, and thickness of padding with almost sadistic precision lol. I think it works tho, I don't ever want to be punched by those black belts when they mean it lol If you're interested in learning how to use a pistol as a Melee weapon (say, after you take one away from an opponent, run out of ammo, get caught reloading on an empty chamber, or just don't want to shoot someone but unarmed techniques might be too risky, etc.), then this is a good start: kzbin.info/www/bejne/faDSiYmai7WtgZY PS Good English to, I hear nothing wrong
