I carry an xl Voyager and 6" tilite pretty regularly. Run a bit of mothers polish on the mechanism and it will pop open much nicer considering this to replace the tilite because of it being ambidextrous and the locking mechanism

Its obviously very fighting oriented but the design is superisingly good for general use. It's a spearpoint with a false edge so it still has some belly for general use aswell as some spine for durability while still being very stabby. Comparing this the Ti-lite for example these are alot more versatile and much more heavy duty. Personally I know fk all about knife fighting. Never done it and probably never will but if push ever came to shove I feel my odds would be alot better with something like this over a regular folding knife. The size might be an issue but to be fair if you buy XL its what you get. For me its not an issue. It fits the pocket of any pair of paints I own no problem. Overall I think its an excellent design.

I do love me some Cold Steel, but I've never gotten on board with the XL folders... just not my cup of tea. Now, their 4" blades and smaller have gotten a lot of love and use from me. Never had one fail and always deliver. I've even cut car bumpers off using them. Great review my friend!

@Josh1973 don't get me wrong, I think this blade is badass! I just couldn't get away with carrying some of the big XLs at work (Like the XL Espada or the XL Talwar). And if I can't use them at work, they get don't get use outside of work either. So I can't see spending my money on them. I've held a few of the big boys and liked the feel and balance, just not practical for my job. I do appreciate you sending that one in for review. I love watching reviews of all CS products!

I would do nothing for a tri-ad lock folder I'm affraid. Even with no friction the lock itself will bottleneck the opening mechanism because it tends to rest on the blade unless you really push down on it. With that extra step you would not get that smooth, quick deployment you want regardless. They do have some liner lock flippers where such a mod would make more sense though.
