I concur , same here got mine 25+ years ago and usually it goes on my belt when hitting the woods with my family . It carried on the original leather sheath which is still holding great 👍 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
@OperationNonsenseАй бұрын
how does your blade slide into the sheath so easily? mine doesn't click in because the retention tabs on the sheath literally blocks on the hand guard of the blade, and it won't click in at all.

I GOT THIS ORIGINAL SAI MAI VERSION IN 1983 NEW IT COST $160.00 BACK THEN. BUT IT HAD A LEATHER SHEATH, GOLD POMMELL AND WAS MADE IN JAPAN.

I did not buy the Master Tanto, but I did buy a Recon Tanto in San Mai 3. I bought it back in the 2010's when they were still made in Japan. It is my favorite knife and stays in my bedroom for defending my home. I am a Cold Steel fan and I own 30+ of their bladed tools. Of those, 10 are American Tanto Point, which is my favorite blade point. But you have a beautiful piece yourself! Nice video! Take care.

Great video, I love the Cold Steel Master Tanto. Such a beast of a knife and at a decent price point. From my understanding the VG10 San Mai is still produced in Japan, just the knife manufacturing has been moved to Taiwan. I can't say I notice any difference in quality at all comparing this to the newer CPM-M3 version and the older made in Japan versions (I've had them all). They are all great and super sharp!

@@nomadicedge9788 I was lucky enough to get the original CS13BN over a decade ago. The main difference is that it was Made in Japan and had a leather sheath. I got it for around $150 back then. Now you'll be lucky to find one for $400.

Great video, does you sheath lock the blade in place? Mine doesn't seem to be secured

Yes, it does. I have heard that can be an issue though. I bet Cold steel will send you a new one under warranty. Thanks for watching!

Mine didn't lock in place either.I had to file two little bits inside the widest part of the sheath which secure the knife by its fingers guard.It works well.

it is the knife that made them famous. the sheat is glass filled nylon, scratches blades and dulls the edge,looks like crap those sheaths. But the knife is fantastic.

I hate my cobrathec OTF knife. Worst $100 i ever spent. I bought into the hype. Coming from a man who uses his pocket knife daily this thing is useless. Not to mention you cant use it in weather below 40 degrees.. the spring gets cold and contracts and the knife does not work properly till warmed up.
@nomadicedge97882 жыл бұрын
Get yourself a Microtech and see if you have better luck! Mine have always worked very well. If you are a true “hard use” guy, an OTF probably isn’t for you either way. Thanks for watching!
