My hypothesis is that the Ohio sustained flooding from your first torpedo, taking on water and sinking because of this. It exceeded it's crush depth (witch might have been reduced due to damage to the hull by the torpedo) and eventually imploded. The torpedoes might have detected some not rendered debris of the imploded wreck, which was not enough to detonate them but to distract them away from you.

There was a moss out there you didn't see because moving to fast and later masked by baffles. The behavioural was typical. What was weird was the start were you got in their baffles and also had such good solutions. Use to be harder.

The in-game Alfa class got to a depth of 3088ft before implosion when I tested it out of curiosity. Edit: Torps will treat sub implosion sites as if the sub is still there. Edit 2: Maybe do the modded Soviet campaign with a SSGN (Charlie 1).

Since this is your latest video on cold waters I thought I'd update you on my first mission. Just for a debrief I bought the subsim less than 2 hrs ago and started the south china sea campaign. My first mission was to hunt down a cargo ship carrying something that was required on the bottom of the ocean by NATO command. Started the mission and after a few minutes spent on identifying the ships I opened fire on the suspected enemy cargo ship (a metric ton of civilian ships and marine life was around the target). My torpedo struck true and the target ship sunk, I thought the mission was over but alas enemy torpedoes in the water. Wondering what shot at me I made some fancy torpedobeats and defeated one of the torps and the second managed a hit. Wondering WTF was going on I got a new sonar contact... Sierra 7. After a while I managed to identify it as a romeo 2 sub and engaged it only to notice 3 more torps in a new direction. Romeo 2 sunk with a single hit and I managed to find myself with a second sub, a kilo class. its torps didn't activate in time so I didn't even need to dodge them and fired a salvo of 2 on the kilo. both struck the target almost simultaneously and that was the last of hostile contacts. AKA if you're thinking of buying this, don't think. buy it. Also tanks to magz and jiveturkey for getting me into this.

26:45 The Ohio being destroyed was a combination of a few catastrophic reasons: 1. Your torpedo had successfully impacted the enemy sub. 2. The enemy sub was flooding. 3. Due to the enemy sub crews inability to maintain the subs boyancy, by failing to pump out the flooded compartment in time, it sunk to its crush depth and imploded.

Towards the end of the video you were wondering about the three torpedoes and why they gave up on you. I think when you went dark during silent running, and along with your countermeasures they started looking for any acoustic signature, and might've picked up the Kommunist(The trawler?), and went after it because those types of ships are nowhere near quiet(180db per the in game card). then they turned because the bulkheads collapsing on the Narwahl might've been louder then the trawler's engine at the time. The successive explosions from the repeated torpedo strikes only helped you more. In the beginning, you might've masked your entire signature with that very same trawler, and they could've gone right in front of you and nobody would've known. It might've also help your torpedoes sneak up on them too, as they were too close to each other, and their combined wake could've made for one very large baffle. This is all speculation on my end, mate. If something is wrong, or you know another, and probably better(you've been playing this game longer than me) please let me know because I'm curious about this too. Cheers on another job well done!

The torps took off after the Ohio wreck, which was not near the Narwal, it was actually well to the west. Look back at where her pings were coming from when she died.

Around 28:45 ... Narwhal: You sadistic bastard! Alfa: Hey, I didn't shoot these torps! That was a rather weird torpedo AI. If there was a sub to the north, then this sub should have launched torpedoes heading towards the incoming torpedoes. But, instead, the three torpedoes made course changes to go after the already dead Narwhal.

well if I was to look at all games as just scripted and code my commentary would sound more like a series of dice rolls. I mean, after all, every time you pull the trigger or click the mouse in a flight game a random number generator decides the path that a digital projectile that is also based on a line of code will take, that digital projectile is randomized and there is no input from the player that can affect it other than placing the target inside the cone that represents the limit of the random number generator. From here if the randomly generated path happens to intersect with the target's hitbox a second random number is generated to define the amount of damage applied to the target players virtual aircraft.. . . see it's a hell of a lot more boring that way isn't it.

If Cold Waters had really model The Upholder class (present day RCN Victoria-class) armed with Mark 24 Tigerfish all you needed to do was dodge once and go to flank. Although the Mark 24 Tigerfish wasn't bad it could only go 35 Knots max. Although nice to see the RN involded at long last

Checked the sub in CW, Ohio has a test depth of 1 kilofoot. At first I thought it was that torp already following it, but checking that depth, yeah, I too believe it was at crush-deep.

Damaged, which makes crush depth shallower, due to a lack of hull integrity. I think what really happened is that the torpedo hit knocked out their propeller, and they sunk out until they hit crush depth.

#1 unless that Ballistic Boomer was damaged or had some technical glitch it wouldn't have been launched out of Holy Loch but would of been on patrol from Kings Bay, Georgia . Also #2 no SSBN would of even want a SSN around as their presence would of betrayed theirs, all NATO countries boomers operate independently from their sub forces. You can clearly see where this mod just reskins the Soviets in these missions though. I'm not being critical just pointing this out.
