Another great video! I've been watching your videos for about a year now and I love how open and accessible you present hunting. No gatekeeping of any kind, no politics, just open, honest and welcoming content on something about which you're so obviously passionate. I should be moving to Vic in a few months and once I've settled in, I'll be looking to join the Australian Hunter's Club. I can't think of a better community to learn this hobby from.

Sil thank you for your kind words and encouragement concerning the KZbin content. I really appreciate it. I'm glad the videos communicate that heart as often it's hard to see the true nature of it when your working from the inside out haha. Congrats on moving to the Australian hunting capital and Mecca haha. Hopefully I see you ina club hunt or event soon and we sit down by the camp fire with a tea, coffee or beer and share a yarn.

@@Thehuntsmanshow That heart is what's brought me back again and again. You've got it mate, and it shows. Out of all the content producers on this subject I've found (hunting in Eastern Australia) - and I've done a lot of looking on my journey from an antigun stance to aspiring hunter - you're one of two that, to me, convey an honest passion for teaching and encouraging new hunters, instead of showing off equipment and killshots. Not that I mind gear break-downs - they're also important - but your whole philosophy of hunting really inspires. For that, thank you. Even though I'm as green as it gets, the lessons and advice you have shared gave me the confidence to make that first step in learning more. You've made a difference.

@@Thehuntsmanshow I most certainly am! I'll definitely be putting a "hunt with a noob" up for some other members to join me sometime soon. I have a couple of good mates taking me out at the start of October first. Shortly after that I'd say I'll be posting something. Looking forward to connecting!

@@Thehuntsmanshow I’ve been hunting for about 12 months but haven’t been able to for about 5 months. Recently transferred to QLD from NSW and am still waiting for my QLD firearms licence to be issued. So I seem to have a lot more time to watch you and others on Y’tube enjoy the sport.

Good spot that one, found a herd of fallow in that north east corner of that private property a few weeks ago.

What i don't know is how people stalk, hunt and record video during these trips. It's a whole new set of skills i don't have. I can barely stop myself from stepping over a twig or stump over a log. Very nice video, it would have been nice to get a deer.

Haha, the answer mate is that most people don't because the second you pull out a camera your success rate drops significantly haha. But that's ok, just makes it harder again and keeps you on your toes. Also immortalise those memories so you can come back later and think fondly on the times you were stumbling around in the bush haha. In other news how have you been mate?

Hey mate thanks for uploading. How did you know the deer in the area were fallow and not sambar? Asking as I'd like to know if or what difinitive signs to differentiate would be. Cheers.

Hi Dean. Great question mate. A few reasons. Firstly I know from speaking to other hunters that it's fallow deer in that area, no one's seen a Sambar in there for decades. So it's unlikely it would be a sambar (but not impossible) The other reason is the size of the print. Sambar have a bigger print generally given they are a bugger deer. But that's a tougher one to go by as it could be a large Fallow or a small Sambar haha. I don't believe the features of the print are that different, and if they are I'm not good enough at tracking to know. The other thing that helps is seeing rubs or wallo, or smelling the musk of a sambar stag. The deer behave differently and make the landscape differently. I actually did a fairly comprehensive video on the different deer behaviours and life cycles which is worth watching on this channel to learn some of these things. :) Hope that helps mate.
