I have spent the last hour or so enjoying your videos and the new perspective and respect I have for smart phones and digital devices/techology. What makes your videos so unique is that they are concerned with topics that I didn't even think about or planned on searching till an hour ago. Your work is indeed very much appreciated. Cheers from Saudi Arabia (currently in Japan).

I donno why, but this video touched me, deep deep deep right into my heart, the narration and the background music was too nostalgic for me, and I loved the part when its said "Its an interesting time to be alive". Thumbs up ColdfusTion This will always remain an unforgettable KZbin watch for me :)

What a great video. I miss those times with the analog cameras, but then again.. I don't. It's so much better now. I had one of the phones you showed, the Sony Ericsson K800i and it had a great camera for its time. The flash was so much better than any of the current top of the range smartphones. Anyway, keep making these videos! They're great!

Thank you for this amazing video :) I remember, when I was a kid, that my mother - to avoid giving me hers very expensive Kodak film camera - bought me, every year, a disposable cheap film camera, so I could take photos of my summer holidays abroad to show her when I got back. Good times. But better times today :)

Also digital video and camera technology was also utilised in the animation industry in the early 1980s and later to save on production costs during that era! Commonly back then painted background elements would still be painted on acrylic transparent canvases traditionally while the animated items including the characters would only be flat coloured or cell shaded so they could easily be animated completely digitally however key frames could still be based on traditional sketches that are scanned into the graphics supercomputers! Also in a lot of cases they would also digitally scan the traditionally painted background elements into the system so they can completely compile the animated project digitally and save the project data on reel to reel magnetic master tapes while the movie could easily be duplicated digitally from the master tapes to be recorded onto VHS tapes or to be printed onto cinema film for cinema showings of the movie! :)

Very insightful, especially having lived through the transition of analogue to the digital age I do remember clearly when I bought my Nokia N95 and noticed how the picture quality was better than my Samsung point and shoot I had at the time. I ended up selling my point and shoot as I saw no reason to keep and inferior camera to my Nokia N95. One thing I would have liked to have seen in your vlog is the mini disc camera's. They were very interesting

Interesting documentary on the history of digital photography. The prevalence of easily obtainable smartphone cameras has made point and shoot cameras obsolete. Mobile phones are great for snapshots but for more serious photographers, it would not suffice. An interesting thing is that camera sensors are still dominated by camera manufacturers such as Sony. The sheer volume of digital content has risen exponentially since the advent of the internet, however I feel that there is a general lack of depth. The latest fads are mindlessly shared and go viral within minutes, however this explosion of information can be used to help humanity, such as raising awareness for charities instead of just liking that ugly selfie on Instagram.

I havnt used a film camera in 10 years now. My first good digital camera was in 2004. We still have film processing labs in australia, but they are anything but ubiquitous now. Film seams to have a good enthusiast following, and from artists who like to create film specific works. Film is going to get very expensive as the commercial businesses that support the format vanish. so buy some now while it is still cheap, quality film could be worth something to someone in the future.

Amazing video as always. But one IMPORTANT thing you forgot to mention is the DECLINE of the point-and-shoot camera. The smartphone is for the commoner. DSLR is for the professional. Point-and-shoot? It had no place in 2013. But to be honest, everyone went crazy for it back in the early 2000's. In the late 2000's, I was really amazed by the megapixels that producers could fit in such a small device. Now, it's taken for granted. So yeah, still a great video. :)

REQUEST : Could you cover the story of Microsoft? They seem to be on a roll recently, with the Surface 3, Windows 10, Hololens, and their new range of mobiles such as the Lumia 640 XL. It would he great if you could make a video for Microsoft. Anyways, cheers mate, keep the good stuff coming n_n I've just spent a few hours just watching your videos, and I must say, the amount of work you put in, as well as the way you present things, it's simply amazing n_n You, and Mattias Burling (check him out too!) are both the best KZbinrs when it comes to tech.
