Whenever Chris talks about how he made songs, it's always so interesting, yet often funny. He's admitted to lyrics being gibberish before, and now here we see him musing over how Neil Young sings "Stars", and then him getting the inspiration for "Yellow" from a yellow phone book across the room lol. Chris definitely has a very inspired but also deeply playful mind, he can take something very plain and simple and turn it into something very interesting & intriguing.

I would not look to Coldplay as good songwriters myself. Fix you is okay but it’s pretty generic.

the key is to understand music theory and an acceptable number of chords as a basis. Over time that helps you "invent" chords that even if you don't know their names, you know that they can work well.

@@eduardoaguileraneicun5876 I was talking about getting inspiration for writing lyrics, not music. I just thought it was funny that he didn't know the name of the chord. But to be fair, I don't know the name of every chord I play. Although I have enough of an intuitive understanding of music theory to figure it out if I decide to write it down, but I don't think much about the chord names when I'm writing music

When a song is so good it makes me cry. Yellow does that for me. Such a beautiful song that reaches my heart and soul. Same goes with The Scientist
