Coldplay - All My Love (cover, tutorial w/ acoustic guitar chords, tuning and electric guitar solo)

Hey folks - *HAPPY MOON MUSIC RELEASE DAY* 😊🌕 I wanted to celebrate the occasion with you by releasing my version of "All My Love". While I do have so many thoughts on the new album, I'll share them elsewhere another time - however, please *DO* let me know what your first impressions of this new Coldplay album are :) I would like to use this space here right now for some more thoughts on All My Love. If you've seen my video, you probably realized that this is far from a carbon copy of the now newly-released studio version. However, you might also know that *months* before the album release date, Chris had played the song live on piano only and quite a few YT videos of that performance were already floating around. It was then that I decided to do this song for my release day video :D And I worked out the acoustic guitar arrangement that you're seeing in my video. Long story short: This video was originally going to be an acoustic-guitar only (plus some ambient stuff) version of that live piano performance. However, about a month ago, snippets of the song started floating around and it was clear that the actual studio version would actually have a much more lush arrangement, including classic drums, bass and electric/acoustic guitars. At that point I had already started working on my own arrangement. So ""my"" version is essentially a big ol' hybrid :D of a) the live, piano-only version (arranged - more or less - for acoustic guitar), b) the *actual* studio version (incl. the final solo and a few other things here and there) and c) some completely original stuff to connect the dots - like the first "mini" solo connecting chorus 1 and verse 2. That being said, I *WILL* do a traditional acoustic guitar cover/tute of the studio version as well. You may have also seen it, but in the QVC full-band live debut, Will, playing the acoustic guitar, definitely did not use the tuning that I use in my version (I hear two open b-notes on the b- and e-string clearly playing in certain chords, I think?? Absolutely not sure on that yet, kinda weird for a song in A-major, but we'll see :D). I chose the tuning you see in the video, because I personally think it's the nicest way to emulate what the piano does, plus, it simply has that "Coldplay-ishness" to it :D If you know what I mean... Aaaaanyways :D As i said already, I have a lot of thoughts on these new songs *BUT* rest assured: I'm gonna cover all of it and talk about it in more videos - one of which will come out sooner than you might think ;) Hope you're all okay out there, enjoy this release day and... let me know what you think of Moon Music, will ya? All the best to you Jo PS: I also realized in the QVC performance that Jonny plays the highest note of the solo, the octaved C# on the high e-string fret 21 as a full bend from fret 19. I play it straight in my version, so just a clean 21, mostly because in the wedding dance clip that had been floating around, I simply didn't catch the bend, but just the general notes. Also, full bends are hard :D I struggle with half bends already, so I'm still cool with playing it straight :D But yeah, the rest of the solo is pretty much the same. Final notes of the second phrase, he plays on the D- and A-string, while I play the same notes on G- and A-string. It still all sounds close enough if you ask me ;) Notes are all the same.

Worked on it today for a bit and will put out a first "quick guide" video on Sunday/Monday - I think it's actually pretty challenging, honestly :D I said under another comment about All My Love that the acoustic guitar in the studio version is not in standard tuning... well, after I listened to it a couple more times, turns out it is in fact in standard tuning :D Will make a video on that sometime soon as well - plus, of course, iAAM and good feelings:)

Overall thoughts on the album?

I was actually kinda surprised the first time I listened to it last night. It seemed a little all over the place - but mainly because I didn't expect it to be an "album" album in that it has such a defined concept and narrative through-line. So that was kind of overwhelming at first + I was really tired too :D Listened to it again multiple times today and it's really, really grown on me. It has some absolute stand-out tracks (iAAM and Good Feelings for me), very emotional, strong opener and closer + plus all the more experimental stuff glues it all together nicely. Kind of a mix between MOTS, AHFOD and their "concept" albums like Viva and MX (even though, sonically, it's obviously much closer to MOTS and MX than Viva, imo at least). Long story short: very, very exciting and interesting album with some intense emotional highlights.

I'm very disappointed. Where are the guitars?? and the melodies? I'm fed up with all "lalala" and "ohohoh" What do you think about that? Hello Vincent, I absolutely love the new album :) Both in the lyrics and music department, it really, really hit me emotionally. Maybe the album just came at the right moment in my life, but yeah, it really touches me and it feels kind of magical to me - I really, really love its concept and theme.
