They were a band on the cusp of absolutely becoming huge. I am a 49 year old man, but I live in Warrington (where the boys were from). This town was absolutely numb after their loss. And four years later, you still hear about them every single day here. Absolutely class tribute by Coldplay.

Well I knew most of them and I live in Warrington too. I fully agree, the town was so numb after it. One of my rugby coaches at Woolston rovers, his brother is Thomas so I put a rugby playlist together and Asked him first if I could put viola beach on for him but also as inspiration to go out and perform well etc. We won after hearing their songs.

As someone who always dreamed of playing Glastonbury and eventually did it, I know what Viola Beach would have felt to achieve that. Met them once when we shared a bill and they were nice lads. This is an absolutely amazing tribute by Coldplay that is maybe difficult for someone who isn’t in a band to appreciate the gravity of. I hope people do realise just what an amazing feeling it would have been for those lads to have their song belting out on a headline set at Glasto. Coldplay did a really great thing that night.
