Hello friends. As I know that I played this cover a bit too fast, I made an improved version of it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5jYgGSfabqXjqc Enjoy!
@bruncher116 жыл бұрын
Actually I prefer the tempo of this version. This is your version, not Coldplay. Many classical conductors on tour first listen how their orchestra sounds in the visited concert hall. THEN they choose the adequate tempo. The reverberant the acoustics, the slower to play for an open sound with distinguishable notes. As you are no full band, this tempo fits to my tast very well, adding some spice to the orignal band version. Very nice.
@bruncher116 жыл бұрын
Any note shines through. So there is no need to play it slower, as long as the music keeps its effect on your listeners.

I still come back to this day. 8 years ago our music teacher was teaching about instruments and showed us this exact video and I fell in love with the hammered dulcimer. 6 years ago I met an old gentlemen who was playing this instrument at the apple festival. And when he was taking a break asked if I could play it for fun as I'd never seen one in real life. He said of course and was impressed that I even knew what it was. One day I hope to have this instrument played at my wedding, if I ever get married.

I wonder what modern music would sound like if the dulcimer won out against the guitar
@alessiomagenta10 жыл бұрын
Dulcimer (aka santoor aka yangqin) is the ancestor of piano; piano has found strong applications in modern music, e.g. electronic music (think to MIDI transcriptions). so dulcimer actually wins IMO! :)
@MintBiscuit7 жыл бұрын
It would ruin the feel of the instrument, it'd be like "not this instrument again" plus it probably takes actual skill and time to learn which 75% of popular artists don't have. :P
@ConfettiCasket4 жыл бұрын
@@MintBiscuit So you're saying guitar *doesn't* take skill or time to learn? Please play Through the Fire and the Flames. Flawlessly. Shouldn't be a problem since guitar takes no skill.

I'm sorry to correct you but this dulcimer is actually the "salzburger hackbrett" or chromatic dulcimer. in switzerland exist two forms of the dulcimer... the "appenzeller hackbrett" and the "walliser hackbrett" which are both diatonic dulcimers.

@TheEadgyth7 жыл бұрын
Danke.
@franzwirzaus83077 жыл бұрын
@TheEadgyth7 жыл бұрын
@franzwirzaus83077 жыл бұрын
Meins is knapp 50 Jahre alt.

Wow! Triple courses of strings for each note! Does that make it harder to tune?
@TheEadgyth7 жыл бұрын
No, that doesn't make it harder to tune. It just takes longer.
@franzwirzaus83077 жыл бұрын
Earlier, a hammered dulcimer had 4 strings per note as standart, some even have 5. And mine takes about 45 minutes. But the strings are also harder than Guitar strings, which means you don't have to tune them really often.
