alot of BTS Korean stuff is darker just looking at their latest album BE you have Blue and Grey as example about depression and anxiety during covid its a really nice song. I love all the harmonizing that is in this song ( you see alot of the work process in the documentary they released, Chris Martin went to Korea during the pandemic even sat in quarantine to work with the guys). I love this song and they worked so well together.

The meaning behind the song is beautiful. Music is music. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or who you are. The love and sound of music in boundless. I think that CP bringing bts on this song specifically and letting them sing/rap in Korean is what made me respect them so much.

They actually recorded the vocals together in Korea. There is a mini 15 min documentary on the making of this song (on BTS's YT channel BANGTANTV). It's really interesting to watch how they did it. Also, the more dancy part at the end was added in on purpose by Chris Martin so that BTS could have a dance break part when they do the song in concert. It was really nice of him to think of this.

PS. I you knew how many eastereggs and hidden meaning you can find in this video. Like the number in corner at one point is the coordinates to Area 51 (I assume you know what it is?). Or the big Silencer is shaped like the corona virus (reference to how it devided us, shot down the connections between our countries/universes - that's why the holograms and connections between world went away). Like a lot of cool things like that. So the song serves as a double/tripple. 1) You shouldn't be seperated from who you love (your self/identity, sexuality, relegion etc.). 2) Covid-reference. 3) Music Industry - "They say we can't be together because we come from different sides" is a clear parallel to how the music industry, haters, narrow minded or people just didn't think it was possible. Just because something is unusual (so far), doesn't mean it can't or shouldn't or can't be done. Like how BTS defies the Western way of making music, blending genres, doing all kinds of music, using instruments that western producers says is usually a no-no, but find it so refreshing that there are no limits in BTS' music (I've seen a fair few producers react to BTS' music to get some more knowledge and insides).

Great video guys, BTSs' early Korean songs are really introspective and had me having an existential crisis. Their English songs are a downgrade, to be honest. They didn't write them or produce them, unlike they did with their Korean music. It's just poppy feel-good music. But their past music is actually very dark, emotional, and thought-provoking. And even before that, they were pure hip-hop artists spitting bars. It's unfortunate that new listeners judge them by their newer songs catered for American audiences. But I think they'll return to their normal style once covid is over, and the REAL BTS can emerge.

@@ivyblue2064 i actually agree with OP. People can evolve for better or for worse, and while BTS’ new English songs are just fine (in fact, PTD and Dynamite are quite the boppers), they still don’t hold a candle to their earlier/korean discography tbh. I don’t remember where I heard this, but RM said that with the pandemic they had to reach a kind of compromise as to what to do. It wasn’t unanimous but all the members and the company ended up compromising on releasing these English songs. I do think they will return to their usual style in their next album, so i’m not worried, but objectively speaking these English releases serve one purpose only: to further reach american and english-speaking audiences while BTS can’t physically go tour there.
@ghostaetip34943 жыл бұрын
@@burningSunset78 bts dropped a full fledged authentic korean album in the middle of pandemic in 2020 after dynamite. I can see your point but this conversation makes it seem like they havent been putting out korean songs for a long time, only eng music to cater to american market. So I wanted to highlight this fact. Bts have been putting out a lot of music and only 3 of them are english
@burningSunset783 жыл бұрын
@@ghostaetip3494 Yes, for sure. BE, the album was an absolute gem, though that was November of last year. I’m just saying that in 2021 they have been focusing on releasing singles, and they happened to be in English (and Japanese). If not for covid, I’m pretty sure they would have been touring, and we’d probably have gotten another korean album by now, perhaps with an english title track anyway. No one knows for sure what would have happened. But regardless, to deal with the circumstances, they changed their tactics for this year. I guess I just miss hearing from them directly, cuz nothing beats them writing and singing their lyrics in Korean. It’s only been a year since BE, but with the pandemic and these English releases, it does feel longer. I’m honestly so grateful for their collab with Coldplay, as this is the first track of 2021 where they sing and rap in Korean again, and it was amazing!
