The first 3 albums of Coldplay were complete magic. My top 3 favourite Coldplay songs have always been Warning Sign, Moses, and Amsterdam. With that being said, a Rush of Blood to the Head is obviously my favourite Coldplay album. I think Coldplay has modernized so much to today’s pop genre that they have buried what made them great in the first place. I hope Coldplay keeps going and goes back to to their roots. Such a very talented band and no one can deny that.

Totally agree, but I lean X&Y. An entire era of perfection…but picking one seems cruel. The other two eras would be anyone else’s apex. I like Viva La Vida the album, but the tour introduced too many gimmicks. It was a slow decline from there for me.
@freighttrain108 ай бұрын
I completely agree, but I would include Viva in that. It was different, but an incredible kind of different. Songs like 42, Violet Hill, and the ending of the album blow me away, but even then, X and Y is still my favorite album. Today's Coldplay is just trying to stay relevant instead of making top notch music. And the truth is......THAT I MISS THEEEEMM SOOOO....

This version is scary beautiful. Warning Sign was one of the first Coldplay songs I'd ever started to like, then from there, I just went berserk and am OBSESSED with them. They are my entire life. And although I totally support their new album and theme, I too miss the days when they dressed in casual clothes and made absolutely incredible music without any led lights or graffiti. Coming from a 12 year old.

I have to admit that if I had choose between the first 3 albums and the last two albums, I would choose the first 2. But I saw them in June in Dallas and was completely blown away. I also was very encouraged by Mylo Xyloto in comparison to Viva La Vida. There are quite a few songs which tell me the "old" Colplay is still alive and well. Charlie Brown, Us Against the World, UFO, Up with the Birds, all have the feel of early Coldplay.

This is the real Coldplay in all its glory. Don't get me wrong, some songs of the newest albums are really good, but that's not the real spirit of what Coldplay is. THIS is what Coldplay's true essence is about. Simple songs, made not for bragging about how good musicians they are, not to gain popular attention, or to be the 1st place of the most listened bands of the world; this is music for the soul, that reaches the deepest spot of your mind and makes it fall in love with their simple chords and lyrics which charm the very last one of your neurons; That's what the Real Coldplay was about, and they have lost all their Magic, Lyrics and Beauty. What a shame. Edit: I posted this commentary about 4 years ago. By that time, Coldplay's latest release was A Head Full of Dreams and I only liked 2-3 songs from it. For those who say "I'm not a real Coldplay fan" or "I have no idea what I'm talking about", most people agree that Ghost Stories and AHFOD are Coldplay's weaker albums; I've read those commentaries multiple times here and there, I've talked with a lot of people about the topic and have rarely heard anything different, it's been pretty consistent over the years. I do not, by any means, hate the newest albums, I believe they're good for what they are; but compared to Parachutes, AROBTTH, X&Y and so on, they're just not that good and I don't believe that makes me less of a fan than anyone just for having a different opinion on the matter. And for the record, I absolutely adored Everyday Life in its entirety, and I am eager to listen to Music of the Spheres (even though I didn't like My Universe ft BTS).
