Hahaha bro I did exactly this! It KILLED me bro. Killed me. I’m top in 4 of my 5 leagues but league has been reduced by all those Palmer-having nice people. Wish I’d thought about Brighton’s high-line. I also went for Saka as he had Leicester and Southampton. I have to say, what I’m taking from this season so far is trust yourself and don’t make panic moves. Still have my wildcard to play at least.

A note on defenders; there’s actually a great case to be made for wanting defenders that don’t play the full 90 min. If they at least get the first 60 min. Many goals are scored towards the end of a match when players are getting tired and fresh subs are put on. As long as the defender has a clean sheet when subbed off after 60 min, they get the points for it. So playing the last 30 min of the match can often hurt their score more than help it.

When it comes to the wildcard, personally I think selling Saka for Palmer in GW9 is the move. I'd be very surprised if Palmer hauls against either Nottingham Forest or Liverpool. Players hardly haul against them. After that he has Newcastle, which is a great fixture since Newcastle are away from home, and then Man Utd, who look shambolic. From GW12 onwards Chelsea's fixtures get really good and that's where I'd consider a double up on attack with N. Jackson. Saka on the other hand has 2 good fixtures now, before 3 pretty tough ones. I really think we need to differentiate between Newcastle at home or away. So if you sell Palmer for someone like Dibling, you can upgrade Chiwome to Havertz if you wanna have an Arsenal attacker once you sell Saka for Palmer. That also gives you enough money to upgrade Gvardiol or even Lewis to TAA. If you go with Watkins over Havertz, you'd have to sell Gvardiol to get TAA. I like the Johnson shout and I'm more sold on Spurs assets than most right now, starting to look good under Ange. That's why I was kinda surprised to not see you include Pedro Porro. Great fixtures and he's looked good all season. Otherwise I really like the WC draft. Pretty similar to me. Finding a good goalkeeper is the hardest. I landed on Sanchez and I'm not too happy about it. I'd love to see a deep dive on Gvardiol vs Lewis. I landed on Lewis myself on WC6 after the leaks and looking into the playing time for Lewis last season when Rodri was out (Spoilers: it's very good). There's certainly an argument to go for both like you have, especially with the fixtures, but I feel like Gvardiol will be limited if Lewis plays a lot.

I believe that McNeil, over the next handful of Game Weeks can deliver as many points as Johnson. This would free up 0.9M. Going from Mykolenko to a Faes or Greaves frees up another 0.2-0.3M. I would use that extra 1.1-1.2 to do a straight upgrade from Gvardiol to Trent. Alternatively I would rather have Pedro Porro + McNeil + Delap/Welbeck over Gvardiol+Johnson+Chiwome. Lastly, I'd rather have McNeil+Watkins over Palmer+Chiwome. That would ALSO free up more cash to inject into your defence.

Had Goal Palmer since the start of the season, from what I saw of him last season he was my No.1 in the squad. His ability can get returns in any match regardless of the opposition. Honestly I think there's more value overall in a non-Haaland team. I would much prefer Salah + Palmer than Haaland + sub€8M You could fit in TAA + Salah or TAA + Watkins + Diaz/Maddison without Haaland.... Saying all that I do get your reasoning for Haaland, with the Captain default, upcoming fixtures etc.

Follow your gut and belief in your own judgement.. so true for FPL. I am happy for you that you sticked with your decision not to wc! Before gw5 I was very confident about not wildcarding in gw6 either because I thought my team could have some great differentials in gw6 compared to the template. Another Haaland haul and the constant disbelief from others that I didn't own him so far this season (I actually did pretty ok without him), perceived "pressure" from social media where everyone was on wc, and increasing price changes made me change my mind. The outcome? My pre-wc team with the previously planned transfer would have scored 79 points, and my wc team is on 30 with Semenyo to play. Feels really harsh.

If I was wildcarding this week I would go for: Raya, Fabianski, Gabriel, Gvardiol, Colwill, Faes, Greaves, Palmer, Saka, Mbeumo, Rogers, Adama Traore, Haaland, Solanke, Delap You may have the team value to do similar as you've moved on Palmer, Solanke before price rises and already had a few of the other players who have risen. Traore obviously not the best but minutes are good and just need someone to alternate with Delap until you have the funds to move to a Semenyo for GW11 maybe for the good run of fixtures for Bournemouth. Also on WC this week, the difference between our drafts is that I'm selling Saka and Chiwome for Havertz and Dibling which allows me to have a defense of Raya, Trent, Porro and Lewis which I absolutely love. Spurs is 2nd this season for xGC and Porro very attacking, really would consider him for only 5.5M with the Spurs fixture run. Your version is looking good as well!

I usually ignore price changes, but crumbled and used my 4 FT to remove Palmer, Robinson, Salah and J Pedro to get in Diaz, Gabriel, Saka and Havertz. Those transfers netted me a -30 loss as opposed to my ore transfer team. I was planning to hold my team for another week to reach 5 FT, and beacuse I bought Palmer and Jackson for their fixtures up untill next week. Just a reminder to stick to your plan, and ignore the noise

My first season of fpl has been a joke, not looking for sympathy i just want to rant a little. GW1 I had a 50/50 decision and i picked Bailey, Sangare and Muniz over Semenyo, Smith Rowe and Wood. GW2 i had three players shortlisted to replace Solanke. Instead of Picking Jackson or J. Pedro, I picked Armstrong as a differential. GW3 tried to switch captaincy from Son to Salah and forgot to click confirm, lost out on his 17-pointer for a Son blank. GW4 wildcarded and got 32 points, and for GW6 I had another 50/50 choice of either keeping Palmer and selling Eze for Trossard or keeping Eze and selling Palmer for Saka, of course I picked the latter. Finally same week, another 50/50 to replace J. Pedro, I picked Wood as a safe option over a differential of Delap just because of the Villa fixture (for some reason). Currently ranked around 6mil. Sorry for ranting!

I’m considering a similar structure for my wildcard to accommodate Palmer but i’m not prepared to go without a playing 8th attacker. To fit in Delap i’ve downgraded Gvardiol to Greaves (rotating him with Van de Berg), switched Flekken to Pickford and Johnson to McNeil. Overall, it looks strong but is this the time to be buying Palmer given the fixtures? I’m not sure.

Trent Watkins Preferred - Nice draft either way - Question 2 City defenders with no clean sheet since wk 1 holding Konate instead of Gvardiol if focused on CS though Gvardiol does have better goal threat going forward now that losing Rodri means that left side attack brings Gvardiol into a more forward position

My honest opinion: great forward choice, love the midfield although i wouldnt want to take the gamble on Johnson, there are allot of other players around that price point that can produce points more consistenly like Barnes (bps system favours him allot) and MGB (still on corners and pen share). The defence feels to shaky for me, especially taking on all those minute risks with a poor bench (who are also potential minute risks). I’d just keep porro, go for the punt on Lewis (if he is rested in midweek and upgrade van den berg to Mazraui/Aina. Maybe look into Faes as a 4m backup, great fixtures and already set for a price rise, if 1 in the next gws he returns you’ll be sure of a price rise again which gives you 0.1m

I like your wc draft. It's totally fine to go with 2 Arsenal with their fixtures already turning again soon. Van den Berg and Mykolenko are the best budget defenders imo. VDB played well in each game and I am quite confident he keeps his place whether they play 5 atb or 4atb. Mykolenko is cheap + defense improving + good fixtures. I would personally not want to go without any Liverpool players, they are top class and the fixtures aren't as bad as people say they are. So for me, Trent would have to be in there.

I again think the better data could be driving a narrative still ultimately backed by personal opinion for a lot of FPL Managers and fans. If I looked at the data for Brennan Johnson and Kulusevski I could say Johnson has returned in the last couple games and the data is good so why wouldn't I pick him. Or you could say that the data for Kulusevski isn't as good but he has returned a similar amount of points so far. So if the data gets stronger won't he have a higher ceiling than Johnson as he is already passing the eye test. It all depends on what spin you put on it and how adventurous you are as an FPL Manager

Great decision Ross. Could’ve been another disaster if you had have WC’ed. My GW3 WC is still paying off with players like Palmer, Watkins, Havertz, Mbeumo, Salah and Rogers paying off. 83 points with Semenyo still to play and on a fat c.500k green arrow to 58k ITW. I think this week is the one I’ll finally get Haaland in and swap out Salah because he really hasn’t played well in the 3 recent matches I’ve watched and was lucky to return. 3FTs and we go again 💪👏

Stuck to my guns and didn't wildcard this week even though I was terrified of Haaland. Would've taken out palmer who almost single handedly got me the green. Finished on 70 all out despite having Fernandes for the red card and saliba for a 0 pointer. Already activated the wildcard this week for price changes thanks Raptor for the great content

Ive yet to use a chip, and im so thankful i decided my team didn't need a wildcard as ive smashed it in both GW where wildcarding was popular. 75 points this week and up to top 7k

Hey Ross, I don't think you'll end up reading this but I can't help but want to tell you this. Please go against Haaland. Now is the time where everyone looks at his fixtures and realizes they can't go against him anymore. It's when everyone's teams start looking the same. This is where you can go against the crowd and stick out. It's so much more fun to play FPL against the majority and I just wanna tell you that you always look so enthusiastic when you go against him. It's why I subscribed last season and I think you'll have so much more fun doing it, even if it ends up being a terrible choice. Watkins and Salah will outscore Haaland + Cheap Midfielder. BELIEVE IN IT. let's go against the Norwegian robot and play our way. But honestly just do whatever you want to back. Just do the thing where you have less regrets and don't need your FPL Therapy. ( Brilliant pod btw) I'll understand your decision no matter what anyway, but this game is for fun so just enjoy it. ( I had 84 points this week btw could be higher but Madisson didn't deliver sadly )

I am also looking at Johnson. He seems to be the one who's getting the chances even more than Solanke. I might even sell Luis Diaz for him if his minutes continues to be strong.

I’d personally definitely go for TAA and Watkins over Saka and Gvardiol. ManC defense has been a bit shaky, Saka has played more of a supporting role. Watkins is looking amazing in front of goal, and TAA with both the high clean sheet chances and his involvement in offense just makes him a perfect defender asset.

I like it Ross, don’t go with DCL or wood, I think Watkins for Saka is a shout but why not keep Gvardiol and use the AA money to upgrade elsewhere?

I plan to bring Gvardiol in Game Week 8 for Trent so my Goalkeeper is Flekken and my defence will be like yours Gvardiol Lewis and Gabriel, I have Van den Berg and Greaves on the bench
