Cole v Whitfield is a paradigmatic case decided by the High Court of Australia in 1988. The case creates two interpretive limbs in section 92 of the Australian Constitution, and it established the standard that the freedom of interstate trade and commerce would only be breached through the imposition of a discriminatory burden of a protectionist kind.
