Thank you for this designer focused review! I need to add some John Theissen titles to my Channel's production queue, maybe the second half of 2024 or in 2025.

I am not going to buy a John Thiessen game today. I don’t have a suitable opponent, and am well-stocked with good games on the conflicts I wanted to explore via gaming already. But this video put him on my radar, and that might swing a decision much later. So I wanted to not only thank you for the video, which gave me good reasons to be interested in these games, but also express how slowly we sometimes have impacts, and encourage people to see advancing ways to enhance the lives they touch as valuable, even when immediate results aren’t measurable. Thanks!

They let anyone on here! Also, Ides of March was tempting enough as it is.

Thanks for your comment Cole, really appreciate your opinion and your work (Root is one of my most played games of all time). So far I've stayed away from Theissen's games as I've heard they rely on hidden components and I really play most of my wargames solo. But will need to have a look at those after all, if there are Vassal mods available they should be easy to teach, especially with excellent Hollandspiele's rulebooks 😁

They _can_ be played with hidden units but don't need to be. They solo excellently.

Interesting to hear your thoughts on Theissen's designs; I like them too, but wouldn't mind a bit more detail.
