Yea Jimbo ruined it all because he was trying to make FSU upgrade it’s football facilities so he could keep recruiting with the top schools. Fsu went cheap and they sold out for a shitty ass coach that will never win more then 6 games with the schedule the noles have... I mean honestly what’s his best record 9 wins in 10 years.. I hate to hate but Jimbo did a lot for us and kept the tradition going from Bowden. I have two graduate degrees from FSU. FSU is not the team I pull for most -- that would be the school I got my bachelor's from -- but I still would like to see FSU do well, and more importantly, do it the right way. So if the current struggles come from "when he let Jameis Winston do whatever he wanted", that is fitting. Winning a Heisman Trophy and a national championship does not make up for what Winston did, to say nothing of what he was plausibly accused of having done. Florida State should not want him to represent them, yet that is exactly what FSU chose. If the consequence of this is that the football program is in the toilet for a decade, it is a consequence well earned.
@christosvoskresye4 жыл бұрын
That said, nothing in Taggart's record before coming to Tallahassee made me think he was a sure thing. He had a so-so record at smaller schools, then coached one year at Oregon; but if a coach is a good fit for Oregon, he simply cannot be a good fit for a team that plays Clemson, Florida, and Miami every year -- the competition, the culture, and the expectations are just too different. On top of that, if Taggart has not already lost the confidence of his team, and made them lose confidence in himself, he is on the verge of it, and the expectation of losing can quickly become a self-fulfilling prophecy. That's a shame, too, since he seems to be making an attempt to demand character. We'll see soon how Texas A&M's expensive gamble on Jimbo works out.

As someone who grew up in Tallahassee in the 80s and remembers all, and I mean all the 80s teams at FSU, the downfall of the football program actually starts in the mid 90s when Bobby started filling his roster with nothing but 4 and 5 star players. The program under Bobby was built on walk on's with a chip on your shoulder mentality that gave the team an edge and hunger. When the team was filled with superstar players that mentality went away and over the next ten years as Bobby and his staff got older. The team became more and more entitled to the point that in Bobby's last two seasons it was common for some starters to refuse to even practice. When Jimbo became the head coach the culture really didn't change much with the exception the players practiced because Jimbo let them get away with far more away from the team than Bobby ever would. When Jimbo's wife cheated on him with former Florida Gator and Tallahassee resident Taylor Jacobs who was her personal trainer in 2013 -14 and another 20 something young man it was reported around town that Jimbo was already looking for a new school to coach once the divorce was finalized. And that's basically what happened. Jimbo didn't care what was going on behind the scenes of a program that he had already mentally checked out of the year prior. As far Taggert goes, good luck.

Trevor Kinney If you're referring to the 1996 Fiesta Bowl, the actual score was 62-24, which, if you do the math, is a 38 point defeat. 59-20 is a 39 point defeat to a team that didn't even win the national title that year, unlike Nebraska with Florida. Secondly, I don't really care about FSU or UF considering I'm a Kansas Jayhawks fan, so not only is your point wrong and irrelevant, but also misplaced. God, you're pathetic.
@Trevor31lv4 жыл бұрын
@@treymagathan847 it's hilarious how you try to be snarky and call me pathetic there, but I wasn't talking about any of those games. I was completely correct with what I was talking about. And a Kansas football fan has not room to call anyone pathetic btw lmao
@treymagathan8474 жыл бұрын
Trevor Kinney Ah, I see you're referring to FSU's 63-20 defeat at the hands of Louisville. Like I said, I don't care about the ACC, being a Jayhawks fan. Too many times, I see pathetic people who take my casual shitpost to heart and try to act like I'm a fan of their rival using a false equivalence to somehow justify their bad doing. I apologize for the mistake. As for KU, they did win the Orange Bowl, a BCS bid, in 2008 over Virginia Tech, ironically enough, an ACC team. Unlike our perceived superior neighbors, Kansas State, who may have gone to several BCS Bowl Bids this century, but have never won one. In fact, they've gotten their asses blown out of their cavity every single time. It's perspective that a lot of people don't know or undervalue about the program. I personally believe that if the Jayhawks moved out of the Big 12 and played in a less prestigious conference, say the MAC, they'd be annual bowl bids. It's just that the Big 12 is too strong of a conference to healthily compete in, especially when the conference got relegated to 10 teams.

You're spitting truth and as a true Noles fan it really stings me that this is the reality of Florida State football. I find it interesting that you made no mention of the Jameis Winston's rape allegation,. @jagnole264 жыл бұрын
this is what happens when you research into what happened to FSU, so easy to blame the new guy for all the problems before. Digging even deeper into why Jimbo was the cause of this, after 2013, the coaching staff switched their strategy with recruiting. From leaders to, NFL talent, now this does go hand in hand sometimes but he picked up a lot of locker room cancers that did not lead the team. Francois was not the leader Winston was, and Blackman was luckily saved since he was humbled by a tough first season and his coach giving upon him. Yes, Willie made mistakes but he’s had one year he needs more time. edit: Willie DOESNT turn it around and seems to make zero progress and gets fired.

Some other coaches would have piled up the points in a classless effort to impress the writers and talking heads. We've been on the receiving end of games like that, and it ALWAYS comes back to haunt the teams that do it, sooner or later. Alex Horny Brock will lead them to the national championship this year. The dude is so horny in name and on the field that winning will come easy for him. I dare say he will have such a stellar season that he will position himself to potentially win the Heisman trophy edging out Rodrigo Blakenship (Sorry UGA fans). However if for some reason he does not beat out James Black for the QB job I can see him converting to CB. He has blazing speed, good tackling instincts, along with good ball hawking skills i would imagine. He would follow a good lineage of DBs to come through FSU such as Deion Sanders, Jalen Ramsey, and Derwin James. His ability as a shut down corner for the team will translate well for him at the next level. If he is asked to play DB I can see him potentially being a first round draft pick either in football but not soccer. The future is bright for Florida State but I starts and ends with Alex Horny

I appreciate your opinions and you might be right on some things but Taggart is equally to blame as is FSU's alumni and back office. The program lacked discipline for years. The program made mistakes the Alabama program, alumni, and fans would have NEVER accepted. But it all festered too long at FSU. This along with them hiring Taggart who left prematurely with a lackluster record at Oregon. He did a poor job prepping this team after big promises. Plenty of blame to go around everywhere. I honestly and sadly don't see them coming back for a long time. Clemson will eat their lunch for years. I am ashamed to say but it's the way I see it. Their recruiting program is not up to par to compete now. If I'm wrong you can come back here to scold me.
