In November of 1989 I had pneumonia and was out of school for quite some time. My dad hooked up the old colecovision for me. As I recovered I became quite good at this game. One day I legendarily made it to the 36th level. My mom was the only witness. My health returned and I was miserably back in my fourth grade class. It wasn't long until the colecovision was back in storage, but the legend lives on...

The Colecovision brought the arcade experience home when it was released, and they were not kidding. The levels are detailed, and for once the objects represent what there supposed to really well.

Yeah, I spent so many hours playing this. The Colecovision was only at my dad's house, and we stayed with him every other weekend, so I never got bored with it.

They couldn't use the original -- based on the Astro Boy theme -- for legal reasons.

This brings back so much memories! We used to play Mr. Do in alternance for so many weeks after it was released, between my mom, dad, sister and myself!

I love that this uses the stage music from the prototype version of the arcade game. (The final version of the arcade game uses the Can Can Polka instead)

You can't get a diamond unless you break every last apple. I was obscesed with diamonds in this game. I have the emulator on my tablet now. 😊💖💖😊

wonderful. Pretty colors, cute music and cute sprites... despite calling myself a retrogamer I have to admit Im not familiar with CV but I'm sincerely tempted to look for its games now.
@turnertalking4 жыл бұрын
One of the great hings about the CV was the expansion module that let you play any game that would run on the Atari 2600.

I like the playability factor of Mr. Do game in colecovision, but I prefer the Atari 8 bit computer version. The atari version had better graphics, music, and way more difficult. Also it had cutscenes between levels in which it added quality factor to the game.

SCORING TIPS: Alphamonsters, whenever on a white letter, will appear each time you score 10,000 points (10,000, 20,000, et al).

it is off? but consider the licensing agreements that the Coleco company must have had to deal with to get this game ported. And for a Pre 8bit era console..remember this was 1982 or 83...This system and this version of the game wasn't perfect, but it was the bomb compared to anything Atari was doing at time on their home consoles.. lol

Quelle horreur! D'habitude, Coleco Vision avait de beaux graphiques pour l'époque mais vraiment, ce jeu là, ils l'ont bâclé
@dallase15 жыл бұрын
The Music is wrong, it's the same music that a boot leg Mr. Do uses called Yukidaruma and the graphics are not very good, all single color enemies and items and Mr. Do.\ Donkey Kong looked good but was still your typical poor home version of the arcade game. They did do better on their other games like GORF, Zaxxon, Pepper 2, Lady Bug, Mouse Trap, Frogger, Super Cobra, Buck Rodgers and others.
@coffee1154 жыл бұрын
The music is right! It's the prototype music!
@richardhdent2 жыл бұрын
The visuals are not great but they are clean and don't flicker. I would say that the music is better than many other conversions. In fact the music kind of saves this game.
@dallase18 жыл бұрын
It's Not lie the Arcade version, All The Music is wrong The back ground Music is Wrong the clear level music is wrong the get an extra guy music is wrong. It's more like a Mr Do Rip Off you would have downloaded from a BBS for the PC. They had a game called Digger for the PC that was VGA and it was basically a Mr. Do Rip Off or clone but much better quality then this crappy version of Mr. Do.
@ClassicTVMan1981X8 жыл бұрын
Some of the music you hear was taken from the _Yukidaruma_ ("snow man") prototype version. I agree, it is wrong in a couple of places.
