Recently cleaned-up an untested Ebay system. Needed its P1 controller IC replaced, both controller ports replaced, and some cleanup of the controller internals. Got a seemingly perfect ColecoVision now! I have another in MUCH rougher shape I got free (rusty board, black screen on boot), so I'll keep that in my back pocket for now lol

Well done. Now about those technical specs. Coleco probably wanted to come with such hardware back in 1979 or so, but at the time ram was very expensive at the time so they put the idea about a game console in the icebox. It was not untill 1982 that prices of ram chips did really drop and so from that point coleco decided to turn that plan/idea into something reality And so the colecovision was eventually born in late 1982. Consider it to be the nes of 1982.

Please my friend, at 2:41 you remove the metal plate but on my colecovision, there are 2 screws, and the metal corner (next under the switch button) has a soldering ! Did you know? Can I break that soldering to clean the board? Could it make the system not to work so I should solder the corner back???

I just took one apart, and yes I had to break the solder joint. I don't think it is critical for operation, at best it provides some additional grounding/shielding.

Mine's a lot less dirty, but unfortunately I've got no picture. May want to highlight that to get it open, the colecovision marquee metallic sticker on the front must be removed to access three screwed.
