life saver video. I recently had to use this exact type of unit and hadn't used it in a few years so when I put in the new canister I forgot about the "nitch position" and the unit wouldn't work. I just ordered a new one and then watched your video and immediately went to the garage and sure enough, thanks to this video, I placed the canister properly and it worked so cheers from Canada.

Good god, 4 butane cans for $15?! Here's a really good suggestion ...go to an Asian supermarket (if there's one available near you), and you can buy a 4-pack butane fuel for $6. Each can is 8oz of fuel. Sometimes it'll be on sale for $3.99 for 4-pack.

So glad to find this today! I ordered the red can of butane from Walmart (in the middle of the night, bleary-eyed) and wasn't sure if it had that notch in the top. Glad it does; I'll be even more glad when it arrives, as I use it to make tea at night and it heats my whole compact camper up nicely. Thanks, and happy trails!

My local HMart Korean grocery store has 4 packs of Volt brand 8 oz canisters for just $5 (which is $20 on Amazon with 4.5 star reviews). Check your local Asian grocery store because a lot of Asian homes and restaurants have been using these stoves for years. This Coleman stove is still only around $20 at Walmart/Target (about $10 cheaper than any others I’ve seen). Great deal. Good luck to you.

But didn't want to blow myself up, so returned cannister to Walmart for a refund. When I looked at it more closely, it did have a small dent near the top .

Contrary to your comment towards the end of the video about "leaving the canister inside the unit when traveling if you wanted to" , the general guidelines for these stoves clearly indicate that AFTER USE: Replace the cap on the gas canister after removing it from the unit. Do not leave the gas canister inside the unit when not in use. You may wish to edit out that statement.

@@antwayanowens5529 exactly, you’re limited to only one type of fuel and canister. I prefer the ones with remote canister, I can easily use adapters and have different types of fuel depending on availability, they’re also much smaller. I've been looking at camping stoves and I'm leaning towards the butane stove simply because it's a little more compact than the propane units, plus you don't have that 5 lb canister rolling around next to the stove so it's more stable in more circumstances if you can't cook on a picnic table for every meal.

No. It's pressurized seal like a spray paint can. So when you put it in the stove and push the lever it applies pressure. When you release the lever and pressure it allows the can to close. If the valve on the can is damaged, then you would hear/smell gas leaking out and you should dispose of the can as it is malfunctioning.

You would be better off buying a double burner stove with hose and regulater and run 907 or butane cylinder from calor or you can run propane cylinder these butane can stoves are rubish

“Nitch” is that even a real word? Slot, cut-out, NOTCH, key way, alignment cut, soooo many choices of real words to use next time. Just bustin your nitches, brother. Good video, just had to tease about the “nitch” I keep having to fix my autocorrect because it wants to right a slightly more offensive but very real word hahaha

New to this stove. With this stove, can an 8oz Kovea Butain fuel canister like those sold at REI be safely used? It says on the canisters that they are a Butane-Propane gas mix.

I've never tried one so I can't say for sure. Closest REI is 3 hrs away from me so I don't get there very often.
