2:50 I had to laugh. I’ve had the same experience with “strike anywhere” matches. They barely strike at all. LOL!

Out of curiousity why do you have to pre-burn the mantles?
@totallyfrozen3 жыл бұрын
The mantles are soft cloth and are not in the proper shape to operate efficiently. They are made of silk or another material covered in a rare earth metal. Once the silk (or cloth) is burned away, you’re left with a firm, VERY BRITTLE cage that glows as the gas burns inside the ash cage (the mantle). You can burn new mantles with fuel flowing, but it’s generally better not to do it that way because when the mantles aren’t ready, the fuel escapes before its burned. What you end up with is usually a flare up, a big flame or a fire ball. Be careful not to breathe the smoke from the mantles. It is carcinogenic.

BTW; did you clean it at all? If you have some Mr.Clean magic erasers use them.

This was abused by two generations of boy scouts. I'm not surprised that some stuff was wrong with it. lol
