Edit: disregard, I just noticed the note at top left indicating dashed lines are optional. Great video. One question though, why only two capacitors when the schematic also shows a start capacitor? I have the same unit and today on a bright hot sunny day I disassembled it to troubleshoot and clean, when a torrential lighting storm hit suddenly out of nowhere. I buttoned it up quick as possible trying not to get hit by lighting and assumed I just didn’t see the start capacitor. I like that battery powered blower. We used heavy metal Cadillac blowers to blow out elevator generators and motors for decades until Makita came out with smaller, lighter plastic blowers but still plug in (fine for us, we have outlets nearby) but a battery unit would be nice.

This is a good video, I've already learned how to clean the a/c, now my issue is the motor sounds like it still spinning/running for a few seconds after i turn the a/c off. It would be so very helpful.if you would make a video on how in the world you properly take out and and install a new motor. I have tired oiling the bearings but since the are not really serviceable I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to replace the whole motor. No decent videos are available for this. Thank you.

I have a 2000 mini Winnie Winnebago with an air conditioning on top only has 30,000 miles on it anyway I’m having problems with my fans starting and I changed all three capacitors. I know the starter capacitor for the fan has the brown wires in. it’s kind of the oblong shape Capacitor changed all three and I switch on the switch to check it. The fan still won’t start if it’s turned on and then I touch the fan and start turning it with my hand. It will go and it will work and work on high and low and everything works, except for the fan starting up and I know the capacitor that I put on the new capacitor I put on there works and I checked the white wires to go to the fan and it doesn’t seem like there’s any short those wires is there anything I might be missing, keep that fan from starting because the fan works. It works on high and low. It just won’t start unless started with my hand please I’ve been dealing with this for limited time over four years because RVs in Colorado and I live in California so I have a little time to work on it, but it’s really frustrating. Great video. I learned a lot. I was just up there today but it was too hot to take it all apart. I have a very similiar Mach Q. 48204-0660. My question is if there is a modification that can be done to more effectively move the air into the ductwork for more flow. It seems to take my a/c forever to cool the rv down. I’ve added a Coleman soft start to the a/c for efficiency, but am very disappointed with the airflow. I have a Cougar 27sgs. Thanks for your instruction!
@MRRVTECH5 ай бұрын
@dennisbachman4316 There is a product that claims to increase air flow by 40% its a styrofoam block with ducts that force the air into your ductwork directly so there is no wasted CFM. I have installed a few but I think "40%" is a little unrealistic. It does work though.

On my Coleman, one of the four screws holding down the cover is spinning freely in the hole and won't come out to release the cover. Have you had that happen before? Any thoughts on a solution? I'm guessing the threaded insert in the metal housing of the AC itself may have come loose and is just spinning along with the screw.

A very good video. I am happy I found you. I have a question. My 2003 Prowler has a Coleman AC with a thermostat on the wall. Lately when I turn it on to cool it delays several minutes before it turns on even when I have it set very low. Or it turns on then off. What are your thoughts?
@MRRVTECH6 ай бұрын
These units have time delay relays in them, they delay the time before the compressor starts to ensure the " head pressure" has dissipated, this prevents amperage spikes at start up that can trip breakers. That being said, after the time delay relay closes ( usually about 2 min 15 seconds) the compressor should start and run normally and not shut right back off. Now if you are in auto mode and have cycled through multiple settings on your thermostat this can occur as the control logic searches for the desired / correct fan speed but if that is not the case...you may need a service tech.

This was a great video, thanks for walking us through the process. Question for you; My travel trailer has this exact unit and after it had sat for a while, I tried to turn on the A/C to test it and it just hummed. I quickly shut it off and then hopped up on the roof to check things out, and noticed that the blower fan wasn’t spinning very well. I shot some WD-40 into the bearings and spun it manually to work it in and that seemed to do the trick, but the unit now runs noisier than it did before. Is there anything I can do to disassemble the fan blade/shaft from the motor to better lubricate it?
@MRRVTECH Жыл бұрын
No, it sounds like the bearings have dried up and rusted, best to just replace the motor.

Where is the water going to drain. Mine is draining into my ceiling. I have a Coleman Mach 3. I live in Las Vegas and obviously it gets HOT in the summer so the unit is running hard. Is there a trick on running a drain tube or something to avoid water damage in ceiling?
@MRRVTECH8 ай бұрын
The condensate runs into a tray under your evaporator coil, the tray has small drains on each side that drip onto the roof. These drains often get clogged with algae or debris allowing the tray to fill up and overflow. Check your drains are clear. Also, it may be time for a new gasket and annual maintenance.

TIA and thanks for all the great info
@MRRVTECH Жыл бұрын
That sounds like your air dam that separates intake and discharge air. If the cold discharge air gets sucked into the intake the evaporator coil will freeze up. The air dam needs to be stood straight up and down between the two openings in the bottom of the air conditioner and then taped all the way around to prevent air mixing.

Nice to see a video where a professional knows their trade as opposed to weeding thru vid after vid of people “figuring it out” as they go. 🙄 Question about the drain: I’ve sucked out the drain tube that comes out by the wheel well with a shop vac and that seemed to fix the leaking Dometic- for now…but if it happens again, am I looking at taking apart the “box”, to access the drain pan? ( Other than pulling off cover, which I have done a number of times)
@MRRVTECH8 ай бұрын
Yes, remove the cover and open the evaporator enclosure, you will see a tray under the coil.....I have a McDonald's milkshake straw attached to my shop vac to reach the tray and suck all the algae off the tray and out of the drain cups to clear them.

Can you tell me the easiest way to change out the compressor fan blade? Do I need to take the whole motor off? It doesn’t look like enough room to pull the fan off without it hitting the coils. Blades broke off and mobile rv guy installed a dometic blade as a temporary fix, but it “clicks” (hitting something) so I want to replace with the right blade from Coleman.

The condenser fan blade can be swapped by removing the Phillips screws at the base of the condenser housing, this will allow you to m9ve it slightly backward to swap the blade. If you have an older model it may also have 2 phillips screws on the top brace attaching the condenser and evaporator housings together.
