You know the sad part? Just like writers who publish through houses almost never have any say about their covers or descriptions, the people making the movie generally have no control over how its marketed, including the trailer. The trailers are made by completely separate businesses and approved by the studio.

As much as I love Keira Knightley, I find it odd that an English actress should be cast to play the role of a French writer. I'm having a hard time understanding why people are not more bothered when they watch movies set in Paris, Berlin or Rome in which everyone is speaking English.
@LorraFae6 жыл бұрын
People hate subtitles. No subtitles means larger audience. People are lazy.
@NotAnotherKuromi6 жыл бұрын
+Lorra Fae Agreed. I went to watch the second season of 3% on Netflix & it had random English voices booming out, they automatically put adio dubbing over the entire cast! I couldn't tell who any of the characters were & I wanted to here the expression from the or cast, even if I do not understand Portuguese. I want to feel immersed in the original creation. Needless to say I took the dubbing off & put subtitles back on but I would be very interested to know the statistics of what other people choose.
@LorraFae6 жыл бұрын
Sammy Ariel I’ll always choose subtitles. In terms of films, if English people are making a film about a foreign person, it makes no sense to make it in their language - the script and the crew and director will all speak English...so unless someone is very careful to work with everyone else that speaks that language I don’t think it’ll work too well. There’s exceptions, sure, but it would make everything way more difficult, costly, etc. Just a thought.
@NotAnotherKuromi6 жыл бұрын
Lorra Fae Sorry maybe I should have been clearer, I was replying to your comment alone, not the op. I do not think English people should try & create a French film because unless there are enough french people involved it will not be accurate, similar to able bodied people trying to portray disabled people. The only way a French film could be executed well was if it was created by a majority of French people. I hope I have made my stance clearer.
@LorraFae6 жыл бұрын
Sammy Ariel sorry, hun :) I was just making more observations, wasn’t directing that part at you. Sorry for confusion!

This before the story of "The Wife" (now playing) who failed to ever claim her own writing but rather let her husband claim the Pulitzer' prize for herself because it was her writing.
