Pretty much it’s a D&D universe. In that, there are guilds for crime. Assassins Guild and Thieves Guild. They have rules and tithes [percentage from jobs]. This movie is the best adaptation of that system I’ve seen.

A stuntman knows how to choreographer fights. They don't know how to writer scripts, operate cameras, choose locations and angles, edit,etc. This is just a one in a million chance of a former stuntmen also having the intelligence and talent to make a good movie. So it's very doubtful your average stuntman is going to be able to produce a movie that's the same caliber as JW. lol generally stuntmen would work on some B grade straight to dvd cheesy action movie.

Was about to ask whether you meant Chad or Dave, but then I realized the only answer to that question would be, "Yes." Dave also proved it with *Bullet Train,* *Atomic Blonde,* *Deadpool 2,* etc. We'll start seeing Chad's genius beyond the *John Wick* franchise before long; that he's been brought on to direct *Rainbow Six* makes me more hopeful for that film, because *Without Remorse* was lacking, and I think what Chad has to offer will be a huge benefit to the sequel.

54:45 If you'll remember, John''s wife collapsed in the exact same spot you see John walking away from the shelter where he gets the second dog and stapled himself up. She also gave him a puppy at the beginning of the movie. It has been theorized that his wife was a vet, and that is why John knew there were supplies to stitch himself up and where to find them. She brought life and hope to animals. Whereas John brought death and fear to humans. It's really good storytelling.

Its a good scene, though I could've done it better. Hear me out. One part of that whole scene that could've been changed that would have a huge impact on the feel of the scene. That involves Viggo's right hand man. (The funny guy who does those weird insurance commercials.) First off, they shouldn't have made him such a pussy. When Viggo is getting physical with his son, this shouldn't bother him in the least. In his position, he should see that kind of violence on a regular basis. But what's more important should've been his reaction when he hears that Viggo's son actually attacked the legend, John Wick. He should've had a look of total shock and a look at Viggo's son, that says..."Oh my God, what the hell have you done?" Even Viggo's son should've recognized the name...John Wick. In which he sits there in horror, as he says in a trembling voice....."The Baba Yaga?" Viggo: "Yes son. The f**king Baba Yaga. And now he's coming for you." All I'm saying is as big as John Wick is in that world......EVERYONE should know who he is and fear him. But instead, the weird right hand man, just sits there blank face. And Viggo's son acts oblivious and cocky. If they did it my way, it would've been more impactful.

@@googlename3859 Whether or not he is Viggo's lawyer, I don't know. But if he is, he is obviously more than that as well. If he was only a lawyer, Viggo wouldn't have tasked him in gathering men to go and kill John Wick. If he was only Viggo' s lawyer, he wouldn't have the guy driving him around during a time of crisis. As far as the violence thing goes......Viggo is obviously some sort of king pin of the criminal world. Just like the mafia, violence is ever present. It was going on long before John went on his killing spree. There was at least enough violence going on where it shouldn't have been surprising to anyone that is part of that world. Speaking of the mafia, a good comparison would be that the guy might be what is considered the "consigliere".

The actor that had to "kill the puppy" felt so guilty he played with the puppy all day long, before, and after, the scene. I don't think he stumbled into that vet clinic, or drove in there, by accident. I think that's where his wife worked, which explains how she could set up the puppy delivery post death. Also, the last shot, with his and his new beast of dog, is the same spot is wife collapsed at, so it's probably close to the clinic.
@TheDravic
@TheDravic 8 ай бұрын
Absolutely not the case. Helen (John's wife) was a photographer. The dog was ordered to be put down, and it was an accident that John Wick happened to be there. The only thing in the ending that has anything to do with Helen is that John and the dog walk by the spot that Helen collapsed at.

In the final fight with Viggo, many people have complained that it was too simple. The reason is that there was an accident while filming. When you see Viggo knocked back into the dumpster, he actually fell into it and gashed the back of his head. They had to stop filming and take him to the hospital. They had to reset the scene the following day and shoot it again and as his head was hurting they simplified the shoot while keeping it a 'John Wick' kill.

For anyone who is curious about the deal that John made with Viggo, the deal was he could leave if he promised to eliminate all of the Russian Mafia's enemies and competitors in a single night, which he did and Viggo held up his end of the bargain. John was retired for 5 years but he never told his son who he was, which is why Josef didn't seem to concerned about himat first until Viggo told him exactly who he is.

I think.. after one of his real life loves passed away suddenly.. and his life being filled with quite a bit of tragedy.. he plays this tragic, solemn character very well. Not to mention all the stunts and action being done by him, or as much as possible by Keanu himself. Also so happy you caught on that Marcus (William Dafoe) was always on John's side! He never shows it on the surface. But inside John is a powder keg who while he can control his rage. The actions he take are driven by sadness which mutates into all consuming rage. What we see in the future is John's temper is his fatal flaw. Once he starts, he doesn't stop til it's finished. It's his version of Tony's Ego, Spidey's bad luck, or Cap's pure ideals. Let's see, quadrilogies...well, there's the Alien series, the Indiana Jones movies (though most people don't count the Crystal Skull), Beverly Hills Cop before too long, The Expendables, once Ghostbusters Frozen Empire comes out that series will be at four, Kung Fu Panda once the new one comes out, Lethal Weapon, and The Matrix. Hell, the classic horror movie series like Halloween, Friday the Thirteenth, and Nightmare on Elm Street each had more than four individual movies.

Collette, that may have been the best narration and reaction of this film I have seen, and I have watched several reactions to it. Very insightful. I hope you won't wait too long to get to Chapter 2. No spoilers from me, but I will say that this franchise does not stretch the story too thin or simply jump the shark. They get better and better as it goes along. Again, I won't say any names, but I will say that there will be great guest stars along the way, and some did an amazing amount of training for their role as well. Keanu is said now to be one of, if not THE best trained actor in terms of both weapons and close combat. The series is a great ride. Looking forward to more of your reactions. I have subscribed and will start working my way through your reactions. Good luck with your channel and your career.

Among other inspirations, the movie was also loosely inspired by what happened to Navy Seal Marcus Luttrell and his dog DASY. Marcus Luttrell is also the Navy Seal depicted in the movie Lone Survivor. DASY was named after the members of his team.

Great reaction! One of my favorite things about this franchise that most ppl kind of miss (but that you caught) is that John has to reload his gun. You can actually count the bullets before he's empty. Almost all movies like this give the protagonist unlimited bullets which is forgivable in cinema I guess, but pretty lazy IMHO

Thanks for an actor's point of view on a really great action/revenge film. You gave us some very intelligent explanations for the reasoning behind why shots are made the way they are. This gives the audience an even better perspective on the characters, the theme, setting... all of it. Especially explaining how music is used in a scene. The fact that you're pretty hot is just icing on the cake. Thanks again Colette.

the most interesting thing i found with the John Wick movies is after the first one and seeing the previews for the following movie i was telling myself, wait, i have seen this, each time i seen the previews of the next movie it would always confuse me, yep seen this, i hadnt and the last one well what can i say, i mean how many men do you want to throw at one guy and have them fail? was too ridiculous for words, if i were to make a John Wick movie i would use the same storyline but just throw in an extra 5oo guys trying to kill him, no wait, i wouldn't do that, that's what they did

You're very perceptive, this is a glimpse into how real Underworld Organized crime works, there are certain rules and a code, that must be followed. So to be honor among thieves. Criminal ethics, look into the rules of the Outfit that was run by AL Capone, which when he went to Prison for Tax Evation, Capone's Underboss Frank Nitti took the Outfit completely Underground. The Movie Casino and the Outfit made Bros The Spilatro Brothers ran Vegas for the Outfit. There's also a Movie Mel Gibson played in called Payback shows how Underworld Crime works, be a good movie to check out. There's also a book written on the Outfit too.
