Great video! Thanks! I bought the grow lights and almost all my seeds are up. 🎉

Excellent!!! Now that your Germinations have arrived...very simple...keep the soil moist but not saturated..... and they need Air now to continue to grow. I have a very small fan off to the side that's set on low...pushing a very gentle stream of air over them. A fan is NOT a necessity...but an extra tool you can use to make them thrive.

Thank you , I didn't know how long to use the heat mat. How long do I use the grow lights. I'm starting from seeds in a few weeks here in Louisiana still cold temperatures

I Keep grow lights on 24/ 7 for the first month...after All the coleus' true leaves show the then I switch to the more Natural Day/ Night cycle and set my Growlights timer to go off from 10pm- 6am ( 8hours of rest) They need that rest! Heat mats... ABSOLUTELY Discontinue their use after about 80% of your Germinations sprout...the heat mats have done their job and germinated... Prolonged Heat mat use will cook , stunt or completely stop the Germinations development!!!

I planted 12 pods on 1/30. 1 of them germinated on 2/3. 3 more germinated on 2/4. So they are doing their thing. I planted 15 more on Sunday, now that we finally have sunny days again. We will see how that goes.

Hi Evelyn... Sounds good. I try to give Plentiful amounts of the seeds I sell...some variety I have more of..some tougher to harvest ..but overall you'll have more than enough for overseeding & reseeding and foe next year!! Good luck...sounds like your getting the same results as i!! On our Way!!

Concerning hand Pollination. To self pollinate by just brushing the one stem? And to cross pollinate you take the same brush and brush all the stems at the same brushing to cross pollinate?
@Jimswholiestofcoleus8 ай бұрын
In nature insects are of course the ULTIMATE Pollinators as they really get into the " horn" of the flower where the the Pistil ( Female organ) is passing thru and passing on the male reproductive organ material from the (Stamen) . So the fine brush mimics this...as does windy conditions knocking stems together.... And Correct.... Cross pollination would be as you described. I dint know the efficiency of the brush...but its definitely worked on getting this stems flower going. I'll be cutting it & drying it soon to separate the seeds. It's Fascinating stuff. I understand that's how Orchid growers do it too!!

Is it better to use sun light for germination or growth light, and is growth light safe for our health if i use it at home ?
@Jimswholiestofcoleus8 ай бұрын
Great Question. Do not use Direct Sunlight for Germinations... if you do not want to use Grow lights then a Preferably South facing brightly indirect Sun lit window is enough to stimulate Germination. But Moisture is important.... but do not saturate either the pods or soil. Water logged seeds are another common reason for seed failure too. That and burying the seeds. Again not trying to make is sound complex... but a steady moderately moisture controlled well lit container with a clear dome or plastic coveting, 68-72°f -+ temps will give optimum results. As for health risks. ZERO RISK from LED Growlight exposure... much much less than a Sunburn during a Summer day at the beach that's for sure. Grow lights are exceptionally Safe...Health and Home and exceptionally low (Fire risk) as LED bulbs do not cast heat....or nearly that of Incandescents.
