I would love to see Colin reprise "Maxill" on Doctor Who, and then regenerate, as his "final performance" for the show. It would bookend nicely.

I'd love him to play Maxil again, but he also needs to return as the 6th Doctor in the 60th.
@OpenMawProductions2 жыл бұрын
@@jellybabiesarecool4657 Yeah, I'd much rather he return for the 60th in a proper scene as his Doctor. Give him the costume he always wanted, too. And then time "snaps back" and he goes off for the Trial of a Timelord arc.

I've always wondered what Colin Baker's Twitter name meant. Now, I understand. 'Sawbones' = Doctor, and I'm assuming he meant 'Hex' to mean 'six' but actually 'Hexa-' means 'six', not "Hex" -- like in "hexadecimal". Still, a very cool name and interview. I was utterly captivated the whole time and learned some things too.
@ftumschk3 жыл бұрын
The prefix "hex-", meaning "six", is actually an accepted form in the Oxford English Dictionary, although it does acknowledge that "hexa-" is more often encountered.

Colin Baker is one of my most favourite doctors. Here he comes across as a very benevolent, sparky and deeply generous man. I wish him so well and I really hope he has some truly marvellous acting roles ahead of him. He was certainly good at Richmond Theatre in South West London where he played in Aykbourne's bedroom farce and Inspector Morse in a special Morse play. It was only a ten minute bus journey to see him. The actors for Leila and Red Romana also turned up at that theatre but not in the same shows as Colin. K9 though did not make an appearance. I will also remember Colin as Dr Dudgen - Tom Dudgens father in swallows and amazons forever. That was a marvellous programme for children of all ages about children sailing and having adventures on the Norfolk Broads. Colin was as lovable in that as he was in Doctor Who. What also comes across, especially with the American interviewer, is just how wonderfully English Colin's sense of humour is and just how English Dr Who is as a TV show. Star Wars is supremely American. Dr Who is wonderfully English. It couldn't be conceived anywhere else in the world.

I loved seeing him and Nicola Bryant (in different episodes) in Star Trek Continues. I also loved the bit where he and Bryant are in a holding cell. Baker: So, what are you in for? Bryant: Marrying Brian Blessed. Baker: (pause) Fair enough.

Colin is hugely skilled, but he arrived at a perilous time for the show. In retrospect I think they were right to push the envelope and it has certainly lasted as a result, but I don't think the wider audience (usually the more senior audience - I recall a letter in the Dr Who Appreciation Society newsletter describing him as a 'fat pantomime dame') really was. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Doctor Who has STOPPED airing in the PBS in the mid 90s and in the 2010s they are interviewing a Doctor?!?! Lovely Chap and he did well in few of the stories he starred in. If only they had much better writers and Michael Grade mine his own business and let Who ran.

Colin Baker is an English actor... why do Americans insist on categorising people with this unspecific, umbrella term, 'Britain'? England is a country and has a rich, varied history and has contributed a great deal to civilisation - I think its only right to acknowledge it.

Colin Baker rocking up to the interview wearing Crocs.A true lad. On the other hand, I think he has misunderstood the people he thinks he is agreeing with on the subject of Jodie Whittaker/Chris Chibnall’s Doctor Who. I respect his enjoyment of the new series however when he says “She’s the first Doctor I’ve been attracted to” it shows he doesn’t know the values of the other supporters of the new series. While many people dislike it based on quality issues in writing snd performance, the remaining supporters support based on the improved cinematography, special effects, production values and most insidiously, political affiliation. I know for a fact that Colin’s comment on Jodie Whittaker would be labelled “objectification” by a majority of new series supporters as the new series does feature left wing opinions. Arachnids in the UK features an irrelevant Trump metaphor, two episodes are devoted to Rosa Parks and the partition in India respectively (while these are relevant, significant and important historical moments, they do show a more socially minded side to the new series, as these episodes are better suited to exploration without sci fi elements and the Doctor Who format, and the fact that Dr Who was wedged into these historic events/that these historic events were wedged into the series shows the new direction’s placing of subject matter and representation above story) and the marketing featured heavy handed feminism metaphors such as breaking the glass ceiling and taglines like “its about time”, similar to the marketing for “Captain Marvel” (another cosmetically female character who’s approach caused controversy and divided fanbases). Similar to Colin I actually don’t have any strong political opinions. I believe in freedom of speech, equal treatment for all, enviromentalism and I’m not a huge fan of guns either. I also think the Doctor could be portrayed by a woman brilliantly and hasn’t been yet. But I can easily pick up on political ideology in media and you can tell based on people who dont like Jodie’s series for the production value and increased budget, and Colin’s comment, that Colin doesn’t understand who he’s getting into bed with. Oh i yearn for the days before peoples words were picked apart in the comments

The issues with chibnalls run have nothing to do with a female doctor
@CometStar1003 жыл бұрын
@@wnyduchess Agreed it's the writing. If I was the BBC I would of hired the best writing staff possible so the first female Doctor could be a success and prove all the nay sayers wrong but instead they just got the most laziest writer ever and just say any bad criticism on the Chibnall era is sexism cause we don't like a female doctor which is not the case at all. It was like they sabotaged the first female doctor on purpose which I hope it was not the case. A female Doctor could of been so interesting but they some how made the concept boring and giving the first female Doctor very uninteresting stories. Also it does not help when you introduce the Timeless Child story to just make the Chibnall era even worse.
